BBC Radio 2 has launched a listener vote to find the top 100 guitar riffs of all time.

A panel of Radio 2 and 6 Music DJs, critics and record producers have drawn up a list of riffs ranging from Money by Pink Floyd to Metallica's Enter Sandman.

Listener's favourites will be unveiled in a marathon broadcast next month.

The station has been celebrating the guitar in a special season featuring documentaries and live performances.

Radio 2's Head of Music, Jeff Smith says listeners will love the range of music featured on the list.

"We've all been brought up with the most amazing guitar riffs throughout the history of pop music," he said, adding that the panel has "drawn up a strong and eclectic mix".

Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, Daft Punk and Guns N' Roses are among the acts jostling for favour.

Guitar fans can cast their vote via the Radio 2 iPlayer page until 5pm on 25 July.

The results of the poll will be revealed on 25 August across different BBC Radio shows hosted by Alex Lester, Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine, Jo Whiley and BBC Arts Editor, Will Gompertz.
