Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has cleared This Morning over an item about bondage equipment and sex toys.

The segment, broadcast on 3 February, saw hosts Philip Schofield and Christine Bleakley discuss the products with a sex expert and demonstrations provided by scantily clad models.

Ofcom received more than 120 complaints over the item.

In its latest report, it said the complaints were assessed but no further investigation will take place.

The Bondage for Beginners segment examined products including an eye mask, a "feather spanker" and a crystal-encrusted vibrator.

At the time, an ITV spokesman said: "This Morning is a lifestyle programme that covers a diverse range of human interest topics.

"Many of our items spark debate and we welcome feedback from our viewers about our content."

Host Schofield criticised the complainants, saying Ofcom "must be sick to death" of complaints over "any minor outrage".

"In the old days, people would pick up the phone and complain or they'd write a letter," he said. "But now they go to Ofcom. They must be inundated with minor complaints."

He added: "As far as I'm concerned, This Morning has always pushed the boundaries."

Ofcom said: "The material was scheduled at a time when children were at school and clear warnings were also given in advance of the feature to protect any children who were not at school. The feature itself was also appropriately limited in terms of detail."
