Rock band Primal Scream have cancelled a number of shows to allow singer Bobby Gillespie to recover from injuries he received falling off stage.

Gillespie hurt his back when he fell into the crowd during a set at Swiss festival Caribana on 2 June.

Cancelling all June and July shows, the band tweeted he had been "instructed to rest for a minimum of eight weeks".

They were due to play headline sets at the UK's Beat Herder and Secret Garden Party festivals.

They were also due to top the bill at festivals in Spain, Ireland, France, Italy and Sweden in support of their 11th studio album, Chaosmosis.
