With Ulster Unionist William Mitchell pipped at the post for the last seat in the Crotlieve DEA by an independent candidate, the make-up of the new Newry, Mourne and Down council will be: Sinn Féin 14; SDLP 14; DUP 4; UUP 3; Alliance 2; UKIP 1 and independents 3.

Sinn Féin took five seats out of six in Belfast's Collin DEA. Matt Garrett, Bill Groves and Charlene O'Hara joined David Bell and Stephen Magennis for the party. SDLP's Brian Heading took the other seat.

Lee Reynolds, the current DUP group leader of Belfast City Council, was a casualty last night when he was eliminated as Sinn Fein's Gerry McCabe took the third seat to be decided in the Oldpark DEA.

In Oldpark DEA Gerry McCabe, JJ Magee and Mary Clarke were elected for Sinn Féin. Gareth McKee for DUP, Julie-Anne Corr for PUP and Nichola Mallon for SDLP make up the six seats.
