Erin Brockovich: 'Something wrong' with Bayer's Essure

2 August 2014 Last updated at 00:49 BST

Erin Brockovich is among the leading voices claiming a pharmaceutical giant's sterilisation procedure has injured thousands of women.

Ms Brockovich is working to raise awareness about Essure, which she considers a dangerous method of permanent birth control.

Bayer, which makes the product, says it empathises with any woman suffering, but argues that science and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) data proves its product is overwhelmingly safe.

Regan Morris reports.
