Image caption Bianca Rowan captured this image of a fire at the Grade II listed Battersea Arts Centre in London, UK on Friday. She said; "We are very attached to the building, my husband used to work there. It was a very shocking sight seeing the beautiful ceiling of the Great Hall going up in flames."

A large cloud of black smoke could be seen billowing across Clapham, after a fire broke out at Battersea Arts Centre in south London. It is believed to have started in the roof of the building, which houses a theatre.

Image caption The Queen was joined by many veterans at St Paul's Cathedral for a service commemorating the end of UK involvement in the Afghanistan war. The day also included a parade by veterans. Kieron Brooks took this picture of the parade in London.

PM David Cameron gave a reading at the ceremony in London, which marked the end of Britain's 13-year involvement in the Afghanistan war. Simultaneous services were also held across the UK, in Afghanistan and Germany.

Eight fire engines were called to Thames Street, Weybridge, Surrey just after midday on Friday to tackle the blaze at a building under construction. Children and teachers were evacuated from a nearby school after the suspected explosion caused the fire to break out.

Image caption A forest fire in Chile threatened the port cities of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. Stuart Beckett who took this photo from the city of Cerro Alegre says fires of this kind are a regular occurrence in the area.

Authorities in Chile said more than 4,500 people were evacuated and a further 10,000 may have needed to be moved after a forest fire broke out in the port cities of Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.
