In pictures: Wanderlust winners
The winning images in Photocrowd’s latest competition, which challenged participants to share the most inspiring photos from their explorations around the world.
Photocrowd has announced the winners in its latest competition. The online photography community challenged participants to share the most inspiring photos from their explorations around the world. Judges Robert Caplin and Peter Lockley selected this shot, titled The Space by Jan Skwara as the overall contest winner.
Philip Joyce was second with this shot of camels in Ajmer, India. "What we really loved was the contrast between the camels' silhouettes in the shade and the brightly lit turbans," said the judges.
"This photo has wanderlust written all over it. A well-conceived and executed frame," said the judges of this third place image by Q-lieb-in made in the Himalayas in Nepal.

Chee Keong Lim was fourth with this shot of a novice monk on his way home in Myanmar.
Final Quest, taken in Brasov, Romania, by Ion Negoias came fifth in the expert section. "The fog and early morning light gives this image a moody feel," said the judges.
Marek Kosiba was sixth with Towards Adventure - White Sand Dunes, taken in New Mexico, USA. "The subject's placement, framed between two horizons was nicely executed. What an amazing place and this photo makes us want to be there, although maybe with an umbrella," said judges Robert Caplin and Peter Lockley.
West African Sunset by Michael Duff came seventh. The shot of Sierra Leoneans making their way home as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean was taken from the perspective at water level.
A striking image of the Northern Lights over Kirkjufel in Iceland by Grzegorz Ciepiel was awarded the eighth prize. Founded by two professional photographers from the UK, Photocrowd.com is an online community for photographers.
"This is a scene from Myanmar that we have seen on many occasions over the years. What sets this photo from others is that it's clear the photographer took extra effort to not only get there when the light was perfect, at sunrise, with the mist and fog, but to get in the perfect position to place the temple just below the horizon," said the judges of Dean Patrick's image.
Tenth place went to Irawan Subinger for this coastal scene of birds in Java, Indonesia. All photos courtesy photocrowd.com.
