A man dies in a crash involving three cars on a road in Hampshire.

A VW Golf overturned after it collided with a Toyota Prius and then struck a parked Renault on the A30 near Hartley Wintney shortly before 11:00 BST on Sunday.

The Golf driver, a man from Hook, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Prius, both women, received minor injuries

The road was closed for five hours while police examined the scene.

Street party held for Rushmoor's Olympian

The sporting success of Olympic silver medallist and Rushmoor resident Phil Burgess was celebrated with a street party in Farnborough yesterday.

Blandford cemetery wall and chapels listing bid

bid has been made to list a Victorian cemetery wall under threat of demolition, along with two chapels.

The boundary wall at Blandford Cemetery, Dorset, had been due to be replaced with a fence after it was deemed unsafe, the town council said. 

It said the work had since been put on hold after an application was made to Historic England to list the wall and the cemetery's two chapels. 

Local resident Madeleine Bridle said the wall was "integral" to the town. 

Hunt for caravan arsonist

Police are hunting for a man who set fire to a caravan while two people were inside.

The fire was started on a driveway in Cambridge Road, Dorchester, on Friday evening.

The two men inside the caravan, aged 42 and 43, were uninjured.

PTSD press-up challenge finale

Helicopters, boats and local emergency services are due to gather at Lee-on-the-Solent at 15:00.

The event is the finale of a charity social media challenge which has seen people performing 22 press-ups a day to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder.

Residents must pay to dispose of gas bottles and soil

Dorset's household recycling centres are to start charging for the disposal of some items from 1 September.

The county council says residents must pay to throw away asbestos, gas bottles, rubble, soil, plasterboard and tyres.

Process begins to repossess encampment land

Bournemouth Borough Council says it has begun a legal process to gain repossession of land at Muscliff Park.

Last week the authority said it was aware of an unauthorised encampment at the site and said it was being monitored.

M3 overnight closures from tonight

The northbound carriageway of the M3 between junctions 5 and 4 will be closed overnight, between 20:00 and 05:30, for two nights as work continues on the smart motorway improvements.

A diversion will be in place via the A287, A30 and A331.

The northbound carriageway will also be closed for two nights between junctions 3 and 2 between 20:00 and 05:30 with a diversion via the A322, A30 and M25.

Round-the-world military yachts return home

Two military yachts which have circumnavigated the globe during the past 12 months have returned to the UK.

The 72ft adventurous sail training vessels travelled more than 35,000 miles during Exercise Transglobe and have been crewed by a total of 392 soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen.The vessels set off from the Sail Training Centre at Gosport on 25 July last year and visited places including, Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Sydney and New York.The yachts returned to Gosport on Saturday.  

Fire-hit chalets returned to former glory

Chalets that were damaged in a fire in December 2015 have been restored to their former glory

The fire in Greenhill Gardens totally destroyed two chalets and damaged a further three.

Broken down vehicle causing delays in Winchester

One lane is closed and there's queuing traffic on the A34 southbound in Winchester between the A272 junction and Winnal Roundabout, because of a broken down vehicle.

Minor injuries in M27 crash

A crash on the M27 which partially blocked the carriageway causing queuing traffic westbound, at junction 2 at the A36 for Salisbury, has now been cleared, police have said.

Congestion had been back to junction 3 at the M271 for Romsey.

Hampshire police said there had only been minor injuries in the crash which involved a car and a lorry. Initial reports suggested three vehicles were involved.

Watson named new Eastleigh assistant

National League Eastleigh have named former Colchester and Reading midfielder Kevin Watson as the club's new assistant manager.

Watson, 42, joins up with new manager Ronnie Moore who took charge at the Silverlake Stadium on Friday.

Both Moore and Watson have signed initial two-year contracts.

Cliff path closed over structural fears

The zig-zag path linking Highcliffe Castle, near Christchurch, to the beach below has been closed due to structural fears.

Christchurch Borough Council engineers are proposing to build a new path and contractors are assessing the site today.

Six arrests after spike in city centre burglaries

Hampshire Constabulary says six people have been arrested in connection with 32 burglary offences in Southampton city centre. 

The arrests follow a spike in commercial burglaries between January and June with 104 being recorded.

Air Training Corps torch arrives in Hampshire

A torch relay to mark the 75th anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets arrives in Hampshire today.

The torch began its journey in John O'Groats and will end at Preddanack in Cornwall.

Today it will be visiting HMS Excellence in Portsmouth as well as Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight.

Man due in court over minibus crash death

A man is due in court over a fatal crash in Bournemouth yesterday.

A 31-year-old man from Poland died when the minibus he was travelling in collided with a car in Southbourne Road in the early hours.

A 21-year-old man from Poland is due at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
