John 'Goldfinger' Palmer: Paramedics' concerns ignored

A paramedic called to treat a notorious criminal gunned down in his garden in Essex raised doubts about the cause of his fatal injuries, a report said.

John "Goldfinger" Palmer, who previously ran a jewellery business in Bristol and lived in Bath, was initially thought to have died from natural causes in 2015. It took a week to establish he had been shot six times.

A case review revealed a paramedic told police he doubted the conman's wounds were from recent keyhole chest surgery.

But police officers at the scene were "not concerned", the report said.

'Lukaku unstoppable recently'

Everton v West Brom (15:00 GMT)

Martin Fisher

Match of the Day commentator

Last week's defeat at Spurs may have ended Everton's nine-game unbeaten run but it hasn't dampened their genuine belief they can grab a top-six spot.

At home they have been excellent, winning their last four at Goodison, scoring an astonishing 15 goals along the way, with the unstoppable Romelu Lukaku finding the net in each victory.

The Belgian is well known to Baggies fans after his loan spell there four seasons ago, and the Albion defence will have to be at its miserly best again.

With his annual target of 40 points safely secured, Tony Pulis now has an additional 10 in his sights as West Brom look to break the 50-point barrier for the first time in their Premier League history.

Listen: 'Make me comfortable but don't resuscitate me'

"Do not resuscitate" forms are controversial. They are kept in a patients' medical notes and completed by the doctor, in consultation with the patient or their next of kin, if they are too unwell.

Why Do Not Resuscitate forms need to be changed

It means if the patients' heart stops, they don't want doctors to re-start it. What's not well known is that doctors and nurses can mistakenly think that other treatment should not be given. The patient is less likely to be admitted to an intensive care unit.

A trial to replace those forms, tested in Coventry and Birmingham, is be be rolled out across the country. Hear why one patient has chosen to not be resuscitated.
