The stand was needed after Sam Curran and Jade Dernbach reduced the visitors to 37-2. Remember that Warwickshire are following on after being dismissed for 91 yesterday.

Footitt causes chaos

Surrey 454 v Warwickshire 39-4 - Tea

Mark Church

BBC Radio London commentator

Mark Footitt produced a devastating spell to put Surrey in complete control, taking three wickets without conceding a run.

The left-armer dismissed Jonathan Trott and Ian Bell in the space of three balls and then removed Sam Hain on the stroke of tea.

The sun continues to shine at The Oval, but the Warwickshire dressing room will be feeling a little chilly at tea.

Garth praises officials

Garth Crooks

Former Spurs striker on Final Score

It's not very often I commend the officials, but there have been two offside decisions that have been spot on. One for Shaqiri and one for Rondon. Both offside and the officials were spot on.

The assistant referees of late have been absolutely spot on, so credit where credit is due.

'Saints can't afford a defeat'

West Brom v Southampton (15:00 BST)

Mark Scott

Match of the Day commentator

When Tony Pulis signed a  contract extension  in October, the club said establishing West Brom as a top-10 team was the aim.

A win on Saturday would not only go a long way to ensuring they end up there this season, it would also keep them on track to equal their best league finish since 1981.

It was always going to be a tough ask for Claude Puel to continue Southampton's impressive run of improving their position season on season.

But a cup final appearance and ending up in the top eight would represent a good return in his first campaign as Saints boss.

To have a chance of achieving that, they can't really afford a defeat in this one.
