Swan put to sleep after being 'peppered with air gun pellets'

A swan has been put down by the RSPCA after they say it was found "peppered with air gun pellets". 

They say the bird was discovered by water on Cannock Road, Burntwood on 30 March and taken to their centre in Nantwich.

An X-ray revealed the swan had been shot 10 times with pellets found in his wings, chest, legs, tail and beak. 

As a result, the RSPCA says he had to be put to sleep due to being so badly injured.
