West Midlands Deputy PCC lodged complaint before suspension, it's emerged

Yvonne Mosquito wrote a letter complaining about the behaviour of the Police and Crime Commissioner, David Jamieson, towards her, before she was suspended for allegedly visiting the family of a murder victim without informing investigating officers.

The Police and Crime Commissioners Office said an investigation into alleged gross misconduct is underway and that there is no connection between the suspension and other issues.

Travel: A46 congestion through the Tollbar roadworks

Comedian Carrott in pub landlord fight

Comedian Jasper Carrott has backed a campaign urging a brewery to reconsider its decision to remove the landlord of his local pub, the Red Lion at Claverdon in Warwickshire.

Ayman Zahran says he's invested £300,000 in the business but has been told by the owners he has to leave by September.

The owners of the Red Lion, Enterprise Inns, say they've reviewed all the available options and have decided not to offer Mr. Zahran a new lease agreement.

We are meeting with him next week to discuss the situation further. We would like to reassure the residents of Claverdon and surrounding area that the Red Lion will remain as a licensed premises and hope that they continue to visit and enjoy their local pub.

Eight years in prison for Coventry drug producer

Tomasz Kajut, from Swan Lane in Coventry, was arrested by Warwickshire Police in Rugby last June.

He was found in possession of methylamphetamine, alongside equipment used to make the drug.

The 36-year-old admitted two counts of being concerned with the production of methylamphetamine and driving without insurance.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison for drug production and given six penalty points on his driving licence.

Firearms officers make arrest after reports of a 'man with longbow' in Coleshill

Armed police were called after reports of a man armed with a longbow who'd been seen in the Gibson Hill area at 13:45 this afternoon, police say.

Warwickshire Police have confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon.

Macmillan thanks fundraisers after helping 22,300 in Coventry and Warwickshire

The Macmillan charity says £784,800 was raised across the area in 2015, meaning they were able to fund support for more than 22,000 living with or beyond cancer.

Mandy Spraggett, the fundraising manager in Coventry, said the donations mean they were able to fund around 60 professional support workers across Coventry and Warwickshire.

By 2030, the number of people living with the disease will have doubled, so it’s a huge task to support each and every one of those in some way."

Travel: Slow traffic on the M6 southbound

London Midland drop match-day services to Coventry's Ricoh station

London Midland say they had to charter trains for the service to the Ricoh Arena and to keep running trains doesn't make financial sense.  

The firm says they've made just £1 of revenue for every £5 they've spent running the service, despite Wasps Rugby Club making financial contributions.

'Greenwood Tree' created to honour inspirations in Stratford

The Tree has been specially commissioned by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and has been erected in the Great Garden at New Place.

The Trust is offering people the chance to pay to £500 to have one of 300 'leaves' engraved with the name of the place, person or event that has inspired them.

Anti-fraud app adopted by Stratford-on-Avon council

An app, developed by the Department for Communities and Local Government, which aims to allow resident to report their concerns faster than at present, has been made available by Stratford-on-Avon council.

The council says the Stratford-on-Avon Fraud Reporter can be used to report Council Tax fraud, corruption or anything else fraud-related.

The app can be downloaded from the council's website

Man left with serious head injuries after Rugby assault

The man in his 20s is in hospital after he was attacked near the Spar store at the junction of Boughton Road and Seymour Road, between 23:20 and 23:50 on Wednesday night, police say.

He's being treated for swelling on the brain at Coventry's University Hospital.

Officers believe he was also robbed during the assault,

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed until mid-April.

Ayman Zahran has been running the Red Lion at Claverdon for seven years, and claims Enterprise Inns, who own the site, have told him to leave by September this year.

Locals have gathered more than 1,700 names on a petition and Jasper Carrott said: "I would ask Enterprise Inns to re-consider what they're doing and whether or not what they're doing is fair, because we don't believe it is."

A group of travellers who have been camped at Coventry's War Memori Park since the Easter weekend face eviction today.

Around 10 caravans are still on the site, after 25 moved into the car park on Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
