Warwick welcomes 'top 100' ranking

The University of Warwick says its ranking in the top 100 most powerful global university brands is "welcome recognition of our staff and students".

It's been placed in the 81st-to-90 band following votes by almost 10,000 academics for Times Higher Education.

Reassurance offered to Coventry's Severn Trent staff

There's been reassurance that no jobs will be lost as Coventry-based Seven Trent Water teams up with another utility company for the services it offers business customers. 

From next year, Severn Trent will be working with United Utilities on the joint venture called Water Plus.

Some Severn Trent staff in Coventry are being given the option to work for the new company, which will be based in Stoke-on-Trent, but if they decide not to take the option, they're being told their jobs are safe.

John Fleck's been named as the Sky Blues player of the Year. 

The midfielder also picked up the Players' Player and the Former Players Association's Player of the Year prizes at the club's awards ceremony last night.

Adam Armstrong was named Young Player of the year and his strike at Millwall was picked as Goal of the Season.

Watch: 100-year-old Warwickshire woman models in Vogue

A 100-year-old woman has made history by becoming the oldest model to feature in Vogue.

Bo Gilbert, who lives in a housing facility in Alcester, Warwickshire, was chosen by Harvey Nichols for a special campaign to celebrate the magazine's 100th anniversary.

University of Warwick in world's 'top 100'

The University of Warwick has been named among the top 100 universities in the world when it comes to "global reputation".

The US continues to dominate the Times Higher Education (THE) world reputation rankings, although ten in the UK make the list, with Warwick tying with other institutions to place between 81st and 90th.

Cambridge and Oxford remain in the top five, while Harvard in America takes the top spot.

Police appeal after 'large scale' disorder in Coventry

Police want to trace more than 10 men in connection with "large scale violent disorder" in Coventry city centre.

They say one man was knocked unconscious during the brawl on Corporation Street and Cross Cheapings on Saturday 20 February around 06:40.

Warwickshire Fire Service says it was called just after 03:00 to the fire which, it says, was started deliberately.

Drivers on the M6 southbound are warned to expect severe delays after an earlier accident. Queues are going back to J10a, for the M54.

Highways England says the carriageway is now fully open, but it will take some time to clear congestion.

Election 2016: Polling stations open

Polling stations across Coventry and Warwickshire opened at 07:00 for voting in council and police and crime commissioner elections.

The electorate will decide on PCCs for Warwickshire and the West Midlands, and voting in representatives for councils in Coventry, Nuneaton and Bedworth and Rugby.

Travel: M6 accident

One lane closed and queuing traffic on the M6 southbound between J6 A38(M) Spaghetti Junction and J5, A452 (Castle Bromwich) because of an earlier accident and oil spillage. 

Travel time is over 90 minutes with severe congestion in the area.
