BBC Local Live will be back from 08:00 on Monday with the latest news, sport, travel and weather for Derbyshire.

Wintry showers expected

Staying mostly fine into the evening but

there will be a few wintry showers pushing through overnight.

These will be a mixture of rain and sleet, although there could be a few flurries of snow here and there. Lows in rural areas of -1C (30F).

Talbot loan finalised

Chesterfield full-back Drew Talbot

has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old played under current Argyle boss John Sheridan during his tenure at Chesterfield but he has struggled to win a regular place under Paul Cook

Councillor dies

North East Derbyshire district councillor Terry Moon

has died.

The former teacher had spent two spells as an independent councillor, from 1977 to 1995 and from 2003 to now.

Gritting plans: Latest advice

Derbyshire County Council has issued its

latest update on the roads for tonight.

In a statement it says, "We will grit the primary routes from 6pm this evening and then again from 4am tomorrow morning.

We are continuing to use farmers to clear other roads which still remain difficult this afternoon.

• A57 Snake Pass

• A6024 Holme Moss

• Torside (Glossop to the Woodhead Pass)

Further snow and ice overnight could make for very difficult driving conditions in places. Only drive if your journey is essential and take care.

Body discovered in flat

A body has been found by police at a flat in Sycamore Road in Stapenhill.

Council annoys PM

The Prime Minister has criticised Derby City Council's Fair Deal For Derby campaign, which it has seen the Labour-led authority ask for a bigger sharer of central government funding.

Rape case: Fire chief's tears

Derbyshire's chief fire officer was in tears on the stand today as he denied raping a woman in a Derbyshire pub eight years ago.

Asked about the day of the alleged attack in December 2006, Mr Frayne told jurors he had followed the woman out of the bar to another room where she kissed him passionately and instigated consensual sex.

Mr Frayne was tearful throughout his evidence, telling the jury: "It's just wrecked my life."

The trial continues.

has joined Kidderminster Harriers on loan until the end of the season.

Transcripts of the interview Derbyshire's chief fire officer Sean Frayne gave after he was arrested on suspicion of rape have been heard today.

The 48-year-old, who denies the charge, told police the woman kissed him passionately and they had consensual sex while his wife was in another room at a pub in Etwall.

The trial continues.

Burton Albion sign Derby County utility man

Burton Albion have

signed Derby County utility player Tom Naylor on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old joined the Rams from Mansfield in 2012 but has played just 10 games for the Championship side and has been loaned out to Bradford, Grimsby, Newport and Cambridge.

Plans submitted for Buxton’s Station Road development

Plans for a major development

on the site of the former Buxton Mineral Water factory are to be determined in March.

The proposals, for a supermarket and mixed use building including a hotel, restaurant, shops and cafes, on a site on Station Road, will go before High Peak Borough Council's Development Control Committee on March 16.

Three car crash in Glapwell

Three cars collided on the A617

between Glapwell and Pleasley last night..

Police believe that accident at 6.45pm was caused by ice on the road.

Woman killed in crash

A woman died in a two-car crash in Burton this morning.

The crash happened on Alrewas Road in Alrewas at 05:45. A man in the second car suffered minor injuries.

Snow easing off

Snow in most of Staffordshire is starting to clear, with only the Moorlands predicted to have more.

Some roads remain hazardous though, and the county council says gritters are out and the situation is being monitored.

There's disruption on the B5017 in Rangemore which has been blocked at Five Lane End, because of recovery work and a jack-knifed lorry.

In a statement, East Midlands Airport says it is "fully operational this morning, following a short suspension of runway operations yesterday due to snowfall".

Leek First School says members of staff are stuck in traffic and unable to get to school from outlying areas.
