Donington crash: 'We all held our breath fearing the worst'

A driver was lucky to walk away unharmed when his

1970s sports car crashed with a "spectacular somersault" during a race at Donington Park.

Onlooker John Anfield said all the spectators gasped "fearing the worst" and said the car came back to the ground with a "spectacular somersault".

The driver, climbed out of the car and walked to a nearby ambulance where he was checked over by medics.

The creatures, who live at Willow Tree Farm in Shirebrook, are now two weeks old.

A driver was lucky to walk away unharmed

when his 1970s sports car crashed with a "spectacular somersault" during a race at Donington Park.

The smash happened on Saturday during an event organised by the Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC).

Taxi petition 'lost'

Derby City Council

has admitted losing a petition set up by taxi drivers who say private hire drivers have been illegally picking up their fares.

The Derby Hackney Union petition was handed to the authority in April but the council said it had misplaced it through an "administrative error".

Long Eaton stabbing: pair charged

Two men have been charged after a 35-year-old man reported being stabbed in Long Eaton

George Osborne toured Derby engineering firm Garrandale this morning before setting out his vision for regional devolution.

There still seems to be a gap between what the chancellor thinks is accountable and what political leaders in Derbyshire believe is feasible as long as he refers to a need for "metro mayors".

Local leaders seem to feel that can't apply in such a rural area but David Ralph from D2N2 (the region's local enterprise partnership) says the area does want the full devolved powers.

Disabled access card rolled out

A Derby firm has developed an ID card which gives disabled people a way of communicating any special requirements they need without having to go into details about their medical situation.

The Access card uses nine different symbols and is already being used at football matches and music festivals.
