The Ilkeston actor goes back to the places and people that made 1966 the start of something big for him in a year when England won football's World Cup.

Second man from Derby bailed over migrant smuggling inquiry

Rekawt Kayani was one of three men detained as part of a joint investigation with French authorities and the National Crime Agency.

One of them is a 29 year old from Derby who's been released on bail pending further inquiries.

It's alleged Kayani organised numerous smuggling runs, including one last year when 68 migrants were found inside four lorries at Harwich International Port.  

Travel: Incident at Dronfield halts train services

East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry say there are no services running between Chesterfield and Sheffield because the emergency services are dealing with an incident at Dronfield.

Trains are currently being diverted. We'll keep you updated on this situation.

Success for one in three pay review appeals

The results of Derby City Council's equal pay review came into effect today.

The council says out of 330 appeals 100 have been successful so far.

Migrant smuggling suspect from Derby remanded

An Iraqi man who was arrested in Derby on suspicion of smuggling hundreds of migrants into the UK has appeared in court.

Rekawt Kayani, 34, from Normanton, appeared at Westminster Crown Court today.

He has been remanded in custody until an extradition hearing on 5 July, which could see him sent back to Paris.

Cyclist dies in crash

A cyclist from Burton has died after being struck by a car at Swepstone in Leicestershire.

Valerie Reed, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday morning. The car driver wasn't hurt.

Richard Harvey said: "Why don't people who can play or sing go to Darley Park on the day and give their own free concert? If they do it on the same day then there is now need to go to Donington and we can still have a great time."

Van link to sex attack

Detectives investigating a serious sexual attack in High Peak are appealing for information a week after the offence. 

A woman was sexually assaulted in a van and dropped off in the Chinley area. Police are appealing for information about a grey van that was seen in the Chinley, Hayfield and New Mills area during the evening.

The victim was taken to hospital and released after treatment.
