Stab killer jailed for nine years

A woman who stabbed her partner to death during an argument has been jailed for nine years.

Julie Titheridge killed Stephen Burton on 20 June 2014, at the house they shared in Selkirk Street, Chaddesden, Derby.

She was originally charged with murdering the 50-year-old, but a jury at Nottingham Crown Court convicted her of manslaughter

Man jailed for historical abuse

A man from North East Derbyshire's been sentenced to eight years for indecently assaulting a young girl in the 1970s and 80s.

74-year-old Nanda Lal Sha was found guilty on two counts at Derby Crown Court for abusing her between the ages of seven and 11. 

The victim read an impact statement to the court, saying a weight has been lifted from her shoulders - and it was a relief somebody believed her.

Derby 'needs to get its own house in order,' MP says
