The Office of National Statistics has revealed that Oliver is in fact the most popular boy's name overall.

He explained a bit about the sport on Radio Derby earlier: "There is an element of wrapping people up in bubble wrap," he said.

"Wheeelchair rugby tends to rip off that bubble wrap.

"We may be in wheelchairs, we may well have physical disabilities, but we enjoy a bit of violence too."

Funeral held for British backpacker killed in Australia

Australian media are reporting that a private funeral has been held for the Derbyshire backpacker Mia Ayliffe Chung (pictured right), who was stabbed to death last month.

The 21-year-old former Chesterfield College student was killed in a knife attack at a hostel in North Queensland.

Mia spent most of the year living at the Surfers Paradise where she worked at The Bedroom nightclub but left in August to spend three months working on North Queensland farms to extend her holiday visa.

Matlock wheelchair rugby player heading for Rio

It doesn't start for another couple of weeks but we've got six Derbyshire Paralympians on their way to Rio this weekend. 

Ryan Cowling from Matlock is one of them - he's part of the GB Wheelchair Rugby team, hoping to capitalise on the sport's success since London 2012.

But the Lincoln poppies are only a section of the original London display.

More of the flowers, which were handmade in Derby, can be seen at the Black Watch Castle and Museum in Perth, Scotland, until 25 September.

In its first weekend, the free exhibition in Lincoln saw nearly 30,000 visitors.

It's led to a boost in people visiting the city's famous castle, which has just undergone a multimillion-pound makeover.

A set of car keys have been stolen from a house along with the occupant's blue Ford Focus, police have said.

Poppies still attracting visitors in droves

How could you forget the Tower of London poppies, designed by Chesterfield artist Paul Cummins?

They drew over 5m visitors to the capital in 2014 - and they're still pulling the crowds.

The installation is currently on display at Lincoln Castle, where they've attracted over 500,000 visitors in just three months.

In the original display, each poppy represented one death in the British forces during World War One - a total of 888,246.

Remember Dolly the sheep?

She was caught by Derbyshire Roads Police yesterday after spending five days on the run on the A38 and put safely back behind baaaas (well a fence, actually).

Well this dashcam footage, posted on our Facebook page by Kayleigh Brown, shows her the night before her capture.

Cricket: Derbyshire behind on day three

In cricket, a five-wicket haul for Tony Palladino was the highlight for Derbyshire on day two of their County Championship match with Gloucestershire. 

Despite that, the visitors still earned a pretty healthy first innings lead, and then claimed a couple of Derbyshire wickets last night. 

So Derbyshire are 73 runs behind going into day three, 16-2 in the second innings.

Alternative Darley Park must get correct permissions

Alison Grimwood, who's chair of the Friends of Darley Open Spaces, said the alternative Darley Park event is a "wonderful idea".

"It's wonderful that people are getting together and thinking, although we can't have the official Darley Park concert, we can do something instead."

Meanwhile some people from Derby are planning to hold an alternative event in Darley Park on Sunday.

Acoustic musicians are being encouraged to go down and hundreds have been sharing the unofficial event online.

'Half of ticket sales' from Derby

Tickets for the classical music show are £15 - a bit of a leap from the free Darley Park event.  

But Mr Kent said they're expecting 5,000 people to attend, maybe more.

"We've got about 50% of the sales from Derby city which is great to see the local community supporting it."

Another annual event due to be held this weekend was the Darley Park Concert in Derby...

But the free concert was cancelled because of council budget cuts and replaced by an event in Castle Donington called Donington Live.

Organisers have said this morning they're pleased with the number of tickets sold to people from Derby.

Event director, Owen Kent, said thousands of people are coming from the city, despite having to buy tickets.
