'I could see the shadow of a gun', says Ali Qazimaj's neighbour describing police activity at her flats

I asked Kirbi Collyer what the atmosphere at the flats on Darwin Road in Tilbury has been like over the past few days since the disappearance of Ali Qazimaj.

Armed police came and I could see through my window the shadow of a gun. Since they left there's been police outside constantly, with forensics and detectives in and out."

I've been to Tilbury to meet the neighbour of Ali Qazimaj, who is wanted over the death of a man and disappearance of a woman from Weybread in Suffolk.

Kirbi Collyer said the 42-year-old, who is believed to have gone to France, always "kept himself to himself".

She said she last saw Mr Qazimaj a week ago, adding: "He would only visit his flat for about five minutes once a week."

'Highly likely' that Ali Qazimaj has left the country

Det Ch Supt Simon Parkes, who is in charge of the Weybread investigation, said: "Based on this new evidence it is highly likely that he (Ali Qazimaj) has left the country, so our officers are working with colleagues within the UK and internationally in an effort to trace him.

"Necessary legal proceedings are being undertaken to assist this part of the investigation."

International searches begin for Ali Qazimaj

Some breaking news just in from Suffolk police.

Detectives say they have "reliable information" that Ali Qazimaj, from Tilbury, wanted over the death of a man and disappearance of a woman from Weybread, has left the country "unaccompanied".

The body of Peter Stuart, 75, was found near Diss, Norfolk, on Friday night after he and Mrs Stuart - who has yet to be found - were reported missing.  

After his car was found in Dover, police believe he boarded a passenger ferry at 18:30 on Friday, arriving in Calais at 19:00.

"Inquiries nationally and internationally continue in an effort to locate him," a police spokesman said.

Paul Olney named... Two men remain in custody

On provisionally identifying Paul Olney, 35, Essex Police said two men arrested on suspicion of his murder in Wivenhoe yesterday are still being questioned. 

Det Ch Insp Stephen Jennings has appealed for anyone who may have known Mr Olney to come forward. 

Formal identification of the victim will take place at a post-mortem examination later today, which could also establish a cause of death.

Police continue to question two men in Wivenhoe murder investigation

Now to return to a story that came in late yesterday afternoon. 

Two men are continuing to be questioned on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead at a house in Wivenhoe yesterday.

Police were called to Denham Close at about 15:50. Paramedics also attended but the man, believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men from Colchester, aged 30 and 37, were arrested shortly afterwards.

Continuing her conversation about Peter and Sylvia, Teresa Lawrence added: "They loved being together and line dancing was something they enjoyed together... Their retirement was all about doing things together."

Police arrested the couple's son-in-law, Steve Paxman, who has since been released on bail, and are searching for Ali Qazimaj from Thurrock.

A pensioner found dead in Suffolk and his wife who remains missing have been described as a "lovely couple" by a friend.

Teresa Lawrence, from Basildon, taught Peter and Sylvia Stuart line dancing about 20 years ago when they lived in Essex. 

"They used to attend our class and were always very bubbly and very loving towards each other. Sylvia was always very well kept and Peter was a jolly-type chap," she said.
