The busiest 24 hours for Braintree manager Jamie Day?

Braintree Town manager Jamie Day is probably rather tired after the 24 hours he's had.

A few days ago he had a big gap in his squad after losing four players in one day - but now three others have joined his side.

Striker Lee Barnard and midfielder Craig Braham-Barrett have officially joined the club, while an unnamed Championship side centre-back has also been signed, but the deal will not be completed until July.

"We want to go into pre-season with a good number of players and this gives them time to gel," Day said.

'Thanks for the help!' David Cameron pens letters to former Colchester MP

David Cameron and the former Liberal Democrat MP for Colchester Sir Bob Russell could be mistaken for pen pals.

Letter from the prime minister
Sir Bob Russell

The prime minister has written a letter to Sir Bob thanking him for his support on the EU referendum.

It was in response to a note Sir Bob wrote to Mr Cameron telling him that although Conservative MPs in north Essex were voting to leave, he could count on him to support his Remain campaign.

We're not entirely sure what else was in the letter that the prime minster was "amused" by.

Essex fisherman sells boat after EU rules 'ruined' business

A Southend fisherman voting to leave the European Union says fishing policies "ruined" his business and forced him to sell his boat.

It's a busy morning on the Thames today in Essex. Not only is there a Brexit flotilla happening, some of the world's largest cranes are arriving at the London Gateway port in Thurrock.

The mega-structures are the same size as the London Eye and weigh about 2,000 tonnes each. They've been on a two month trip from China.

The port says the delivery of these two cranes will "ensure the UK remains competitive when it comes to trade." More on this later.
