Olly Murs concerts cancelled

An Olly Murs concert in Kings Park, Bournemouth, on 5 August has been cancelled, after the show's promoter collapsed.

In a statement, Stephen C Associates Ltd said it was entering liquidation and could not put on the singer's concerts in Bournemouth and Exeter over the coming weeks.

It said it could not offer refunds and fans should contact their credit card firms or ticket agencies.

Duke of Wellington statue found in River Thames

A statue of the Duke of Wellington has been found by a canoeist in the River Thames.

The 30cm-tall (12inch) bronze bust by French sculptor Baron Carlo Marochetti was found in the water at Sonning, Berkshire, last week.

It is believed to have been stolen during a burglary several years ago as it looks like it has been in the river "for some time", police said.

A Dorset cancer patient is calling on more wig shops to accept NHS vouchers.

Gillian Gould, 73, from Corfe, was diagnosed with the breast cancer two months ago.

She said many cancer patients struggle to access the fortnightly wig service provided by hospitals.

A plan to renovate a 200-year-old Georgian-style house and country park in Dorset has been given the go ahead.

Borough of Poole council agreed to back a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for £1.8m to conserve Poole's Upton Country Park and Grade II* listed house at a meeting on Tuesday.

Other proposals include the development of a wetland centre and work to revamp the grounds.

The application for the funding bid is expected to be submitted in August.

England international goalkeeper Fraser Forster has signed a new five-year deal with Southampton.

The 29-year-old had agreed a contract last summer until 2021, but the 6ft 7in stopper has now extended that for another season.

An image of a man wanted following a sexual assault in Didcot has been released by police

The incident happened near the Orchard Centre at 12.30 am on Sunday.

Police said a women was walking along Edinburgh Drive when she was grabbed from behind and sexually assaulted.

Cerebral palsy sailor completes Scotland to Ireland challenge

An Isle of Wight adventurer with cerebral palsy has become the youngest disabled woman to skipper a yacht from Scotland to Ireland.

Cowes-based Natasha Lambert started from south east Scotland on Monday at 10:30 and arrived at Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, six hours later.

Miss Lambert has artheroid cerebral palsy and is unable to use conventional controls to sail her 21ft (6.4m) yacht Miss Isle Too (pictured below).

Instead she steers and controls the sails by sipping and puffing into a single straw.

In 2015, she was recognised by the Queen with a BEM after sailing solo around the Isle of Wight, across the Channel and from Cowes to London.

Solution sought as level crossing closures set to increase

The amount of time a level crossing in an Oxfordshire town closes for is set to double, if a major rail project goes ahead.

The London Road crossing links south east Bicester to the town's centre.

It is closed for about 14 minutes each hour, but that is expected to rise to up to 34 minutes an hour, once phase two of East West Rail is built.

Oxfordshire County Council leader Ian Hudspeth said the authority was "lobbying for a solution".

Three fields on a farm near Swanage have been declared a village green.

The decision by Dorset County Council has effectively ruled out any future development on the land to the north of the coastal town.

Friends of Herston Fields campaign group in Purbeck - including Gerard Jensen and Kim Gallagher pictured - have said they are "elated" by the news.

However, although the registration has been successful, a legal challenge is being considered by the landowners - Scott Estate - which claims the status award amounts to confiscation of part of their farm.

Residents' health worries over HMS Daedalus rubble piles

Residents living near a former Royal Navy airfield are worried about their health and are "constantly cleaning" their homes due to dust being blown from rubble piles at the site.

The former HMS Daedalus air station in Lee-on--the-Solent is being transformed into a government "enterprise zone", including business space and new homes.

People living near the site have complained of sore throats and eyes.

The Homes and Communities Agency said a "dust management plan" was in place.

Kazakhstan deal for Southampton hovercraft firm

A Southampton company has signed a deal to carry out a study into the use of hovercraft for clearing oil spills and support offshore oil rigs in Kazakhstan.

Griffon Hoverwork will be working in areas of the Caspian Sea which are inaccessible to conventional shipping to carry out environmental impact assessments.

Following the initial deal signed with the Kazakh state oil company KazMunayGas' subsidiary, the company said future contracts could be worth more than £100m, supporting 70 jobs in Southampton.

Thunderstorm fire service call-outs in Berkshire

More than 40 emergency calls were received during thunderstorms and heavy rain last night by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The calls were recieved between 20:30 and 23:45 BST.

Crews were called to incidents including a loft fire after a house was struck by lightning and flooding.

BreakingDorset to receive 'large share' of £325m for NHS projects

Dorset is to receive one of the largest shares of £325m announced today by Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt and NHS England chief executive Simon Stevens for local projects aimed to help the NHS to modernise and transform care for patients.

Local capital investment schemes in 15 areas of the country have been given the go ahead, with the largest sums being used for urgent care in Dorset, surgery in Greater Manchester and cancer care in Cumbria.

Following the crash between the Oxford roundabouts just before 07:00 we've been informed one patient has now been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for further treatment on their minor injuries.

The other person was treated at the scene.
