Charity performance for terror attack victims

The Kidderminster male voice choir are to perform a tribute for the victims of recent terror attacks in Manchester and London.

The choir will be performing at Bodenham Arboretum tomorrow evening with donations being made to a bereavement charity.

A teenager from Herefordshire will be representing Britain at the World Transplant games later this month.

Kiera Jackson, who's 14 and from Leominster, had a life-saving liver transplant in 2010 at Birmingham Children's hospital.

Dudley man charged with attempted murder in Worcester

A man from Dudley has been charged with attempted murder following an incident on George Street, Worcester on Sunday night.

Ethan Bell-Milne, 19, from Himley Street in Dudley was charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been detained and will appear at Worcester Magistrates' Court later today.

A 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man, both from Worcester, who were arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting attempted murder have been released without charge.

Man who stabbed dog to death banned from keeping animals

A man who killed his dog and left his body to rot in his flat for several days has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, and given 250 hours of community service.

Wayne Bishop, 30, of Weston-Super-Mare admitted killing his dog, General, in a moment of cruelty at his flat in Droitwich when he appeared before magistrates in Worcester.

He was banned from keeping animals for life.

General was discovered by police officers with a stab wound to his chest after neighbours raised concern of the stench coming from the property.

Bishop initially claimed he stabbed his dog after he attacked him but later admitted this was not true and that he had stabbed General in anger.

General’s death was an absolutely horrific case of animal cruelty at its worst. There is simply no excuse for such extreme cruelty."

Blind father to perform wingwalk in memory of son

The dad of a teenager from Worcester who committed suicide in January will be taking to the skies in his son's memory this Father's Day.

Mark Abel will remember his son Sam and raise money for Worcester charity Sight Concern by performomg a wingwalk on Sunday.

Mr Abel went blind six years ago after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and has competed for Team GB in the Invictus Games.

He said he wanted to guarantee "tariff free, frictionless access" for British goods to European markets.

Speaking at the agricultural show in Malvern, in his first public appearance as the new environment secretary, Mr Gove said he was "in listening mode" as he talked to farmers about what Brexit meant for the industry.

Bromsgrove MP heads to Kensington over Grenfell tower block fire

Bromsgrove MP Sajid Javid, the secretary of state for communities and local government, says the government "will do whatever it takes" to improve safety in tower blocks following the fire in west London which killed at least 17 people.

He told BBC Breakfast he wanted to reassure people living in similar tower blocks across the country, saying an emergency review would start straight away but would be informed by the fire investigation report into the tragedy.

Mr Javid said he was going to the area today and wanted to make sure the council owning the tower block was suitably assisted during the fire's aftermath.

Search for relatives of 'A Bridge Too Far' hero

A Worcester-based military historian and author is trying to find the relatives of a World War Two hero who died in the fighting that was later turned into the film A Bridge Too Far.

Dilip Sarkar is hopes to find relatives of Lt Peter Brazier of the Glider Pilot Regiment, who was killed in the fighting around Arnhem in September 1944.

Thousands of visitors have started to arrive at the Malvern Showground today for the opening day of the Royal Three Counties Show.

The livestock and equine exhibition lasts until Sunday and is the biggest of its kind in the UK.

Di Walton, Head of Shows at the Three Counties Agricultural Society, told BBC Hereford and Worcester how the the livestock exhibition is "so popular".

She said: "We do champion everything that is local and regional. The weather forecast is brilliant. The exhibition's there for three days and we have lots of new features to welcome you."

Police appeal for witnesses after Evesham collision string

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses after a black Seat Ibiza collided with a number of parked vehicles on Fairfield Road, in Evesham.

At least six vehicles were involved in the crash at about 03:00 on Thursday.

Manchester victim's daughter thanks 'guardian angels'

The daughter of a man, from Hagley, injured in the Manchester bomb has written a note thanking nurses "for saving my dad".

The note, signed with a heart, reads: “Just want to say a big thank you to Liahna and Martin for saving my dad! I’m so thankful to them and they deserve the very best. Also wishing Brogan Jean a speedy recovery".

Garry Farr says his 11-year-old daughter Amy "is generally a bright and bubbly girl" and has managed to maintain that despite the attacks.

"We’ll be keeping an eye on her over the coming weeks because there are things she’s seen that no 11-year-old should see so she may need some help with that as time goes on."

A father caught up in the Manchester bomb attack with his 11-year-old daughter has been speaking for the first time and says he is lucky to be alive.

Garry Farr, from Hagley, had to have surgery the day after the explosion and says he was saved by a trained nurse who made a tourniquet for his leg using two belts.

Mr Farr says he was extremely lucky not to have been more badly injured and has since been getting on with his life and hasn't been afraid to go out to gigs as he normally would.
