'Here's my igloo' - take a look at what you've made

Stephanie Barnard

BBC News

Thanks to everyone who has sent in their beautiful snow pics today. They've been brilliant and it's been hard to pick just a small selection out of the ones that we've received.

Tonight I want to share some of the amazing igloos you've been making across the West Midlands. They say Rome wasn't built in a day, but it's fair to say ice houses were built in just a few hours.

This morning we featured a video of someone who spent eight hours yesterday building one and it looks like he wasn't the only one...

A favourite is this one, by Anca Malnas. If you look closely it has fairy lights hanging over the door, a table for drinks and a snowman. Ten-out-of-10 for effort!

A West Midlands snow picture: what's happening

Phil Mackie

Midlands correspondent, BBC News

We've seen snow get as deep as 8cm in Worcester city centre over the past 24 hours though it's been much deeper in rural areas and other places including Staffordshire and Shropshire.

Hundreds and hundreds of schools are closed across the region. It may be good news for them, but with temperatures unlikely to rise above 0C it's likely conditions won't change, making it tricky for people to get around.

Public transport is running but as ever, we're warned to check before we travel.
