The £1.2m scheme started in January with the aim of raising nearly 200m of road, cycle paths and footpaths by 38cm (15 inches).

From 20:00 tonight, the county council says the road will be closed with a diversion in place until 06:00 on Monday, although there'll be access to site like the cricket ground.

Three masked men burst into a house on Portland Street in Hereford last month and also used pepper spray on three people inside.

The burglars made off with the dog, along with other items, and two of the victims needed hospital treatment.

Now, detectives say they think the bulldog, which is microchipped, may have been sold without the buyer realising she's a family pet.

The grave before being restored

PC Howard Overton was killed in Malvern in 1928, saving the life of a child who had run into the road.

He pushed the boy to safety but was killed when he was hit by two cars.

A group of serving West Mercia Police officers started raising money to have the now overgrown grave restored and it'll be rededicated tomorrow afternoon.

They've done a huge renovation on the grave site and the grave itself and it looks beautiful. I went and had a look a couple of weeks ago and it was very overgrown and you could just about read the lettering on the gravestone."

For the last three years it's been run by a private operator, but that agreement ends in June amid concerns about the market's financial viability.

Poppies draw thousands to visit cathedral display

Nicola Goodwin

More than 100,000 people have visited a display of ceramic poppies since they went on display at Hereford Cathedral.

Thousands of them can be seen cascading down the side of the ancient building.

Organisers expected an overall total of 100,000 visitors across the six weeks they're on display but have passed that figure with just under three weeks still to go until 29 April.

The poppies were first installed at the Tower of London to commemorate 100 years since World War One.
