Traffic and travel: Congestion around Hull

Quite a lot of rush hour traffic this evening.Particularly around Beverley Road and on the A63 near Brighton Street and Garrison Road.

Weather: A dry evening with chances of mist and frost

It will remain dry into the evening and overnight, with a light northeasterly breeze. 

Temperatures will dip under further clear spells, perhaps leading to some mist and a touch of frost around the Wolds and rural areas by dawn.

Watch: Hull FC coach Lee Radford on their Challenge Cup draw

Hull FC have been handed a tough task of playing St Helens away from home in the Rugby League Challenge Cup. 

The Black and Whites will travel to Langtree Park having won on their last two visits. 

But coach Lee Radford says of all the ties they could have got this is just about the most challenging:

Skeletons removed from front of Holy Trinity Church in Hull

As part of city centre regeneration work, Eurovia have had to remove hundreds of skeletons from a graveyard site in front of Holy Trinity Church.

The Eurovia team discovered a collection of historical mixed bones.

In a statement the company said:  

All remains removed from the site are recorded and transferred to the church crypt.”

Man wanted in connection with attempted burglary in Anlaby

Police want to speak to this man about an attempted burglary on Lowfield Road in Anlaby during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Emergency repair to gas pipe in Hull City Centre

Engineers from Northern Gas Networks have carried out emergency repairs on a gas main in Hull City Centre after "third party damage". 

Engineers arrived at 13:00 today and made the situation safe by temporarily repairing it. 

A full repair is expected to be completed by Tuesday.

Shuttle bus service from Bridlington to Scarborough Hospital may end

The East Riding Clinical Commissioning Group says it’s “not in a position to say“ whether it would take over the funding of the Bridlington-to-Scarborough Hospital shuttle bus. 

more than 19,000 people used the service last year. 

The shuttle bus service is due to end in mid-July as NHS managers in Scarborough are stopping the funding.

Travel: Major delays on trains between Hull and London

A person has been hit by a train at Stevenage causing major delays of up to two hours to journeys between London Kings Cross and Peterborough / Cambridge.

Hull City fans start petition against membership scheme

Hull City fans have started an online petition against the club's new membership scheme.

Branded "Earn Your Stripes" by the club, the scheme has upset many fans because they are being asked to move from their traditional seats to other areas of the KCOM Stadium to take advantage of the cheapest deals. 

This is in the wake of the proposal to close the Upper West Stand if the Tigers fail to gain promotion back to the Premier League.

Steamroller theft in Goole

Humberside Police are appealing for help to identify two men in connection with the theft of a steamroller from a firm in Bridge Street, Goole.

It is one of a number of similar offences in the East Riding area currently being investigated.

This latest theft happened about 5:30pm on Monday, when two men in a white Ford Transit van with a beacon light on the roof, drove into the yard.

A steamroller was then driven into the back of the van, before the van was driven away.

A614 diversion in East Yorkshire reroutes tomorrow

A diversion, which has added to safety concerns in Howden, will be rerouted tomorrow.

Network Rail, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and highways officials have agreed to change the A614 diversion so that it goes along the M62.

Northbound traffic will be diverted via Junction 37 of the M62 and then the A63, turning off onto the A1034 at South Cave, and proceeding north to the A1079 at Market Weighton. 

Traffic will then continue to the west to rejoin the A614 at the Shiptonthorpe Roundabout. 

Southbound traffic will be diverted along the same route in the opposite direction.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after a police chase on Tuesday in Willerby near Hull after reports he was driving in a dangerous manner. 

Officers say the incident involved a blue Volvo that was then abandoned in the Priory Road area around 15:30.

Major transport improvements in Bridlington

Major transport improvements will start in Bridlington in about a month's time it's been announced.

Hilderthorpe Road will be widened to three carriageways, Bridge Street will be made one-way and a new bridge will be built over the Gypsey Race. 

Later a new transport interchange will be built outside Bridlington Railway station.

Bridlington allotment site may become cemetery

The East Riding Council might be converting some allotments in Bridlington into a burial ground.

It's because the town's cemetery is nearly full.

Officials have terminated the allotment holders' contracts and plans to convert the allotments into a graveyard will go before councillors next week.

The East Riding Council has offered the allotment keepers alternative plots elsewhere in Bridlington and they're offering up to £120 towards moving expenses.

It's been announced that Hull's Fruit Market will be transformed by an £80m regeneration.

The company behind the refurbishment has been singing the praises of the area:

In some respects, the beauty that the whole Fruit Market area is constrained by water on three sides and the A63, in our view, makes the whole area exciting and a destination in its own right."

The company hope to transform the area into an "urban village".

Traffic and travel: Trains from Hull to London delayed

If you're travelling via Hull Trains between London Kings Cross and Hull this morning, expect delays of about 40 minutes.

A broken down train is causing the delays near Grantham and the delays are expected until 10:30.

Bridlington's allotments could become cemetery

Bridlington cemetery could be extended over these allotments as the town is running out of spaces to bury people. 

The allotment holders have had their leases terminated and next week planners will be asked to approve the conversion of the site into a cemetery.

Firms given The Queen's Awards for Innovation

I've been finding out about Crewshield in Hull who have been given an award for their product Citadel.

They've developed a way for a ship's crews to defend themselves against pirates.

The other local winners include Hull-based Bureau UK Recruitment Ltd, which sources staff for work in global energy and infrastructure markets. 

Market Weighton's SG Technical Systems also received an accolade for their development of a powered folding ambulance ramp.

The £80 million transformation of the Hull's Fruit Market area is being billed as the most significant regeneration project in the city.

Those behind the redevelopment have been revealing more detail about what it will look like when the work is completed.

It's hoped the vibe of trendy parts of London with homes, businesses and restaurants can be replicated near the banks of the Humber.

Traffic and travel: Roads running clear

Nothing major to report on the roads this morning. 

Don't forget the A614 in Howden is closed in both directions between the A614 Thorpe Road junction and the Portington Road junction. 

There's a diversion in place whilst Network Rail try and carry out emergency repairs because of subsidence.
