The RB Marathon, which took place in September last year, is down to the final 12 in the Running Award's best Marathon category.

Weather: Mainly fine and dry but chilly with a frost overnight

Staying fine with some sunshine before dusk but feeling chilly with temperatures quickly dropping this evening.

Police seen 'noticeable increase' of burglaries in West Hull

Humberside Police say they've seen a noticeable increase in garages and sheds being burgled in the West Hull area.

There were 20 reported incidents between Monday 4 April and Saturday 16 April with the majority occurring overnight.

The thieves stole push bikes, motorcycles and power tools but in some cases they just broke in and stole nothing.

East Yorkshire's version of the Dubai Palm Islands

Conservationists have created a Dubai Palm Islands-style luxury resort for migrating birds. 

They've created chains of low-lying clay islands in the water in the shape of a tree.

Barred from London Marathon due to East Yorkshire robotic suit

A woman, who completed the London Marathon with the help of a robotic suit made in East Yorkshire, has been barred from entering another race in the capital. 

Claire Lomas (pictured) is paralysed and has raised more than £500,000 for spinal injury research by taking part in events.

Humberside Police are investigating claims a man stole two packets of cigarettes from a store in First Lane, Hessle.

The man is said to have walked into the shop and produced a small black handgun. The shop assistant handed over cigarettes and he cycled off on a push bike with a woman.

The police want to speak to the man pictured in connection with the incident:

Family cried with joy as former East Yorkshire head teacher found not guilty of abusing boys

Clifford Stott, a former head teacher in East Riding schools was cleared of eight counts of historical sexual offences. 

His family cheered and cried with joy when the verdict was read out at Hull Crown Court.

Throughout the trial Mr Stott vehemently denied the allegations - saying he was a happily married, hetrosexual man who had never had a sexual interest in boys. 

During evidence he said the last three years since his arrest had been "very difficult" saying "huge parts" of his life had changed. 

Prisoners contribute to 'I live Hull' exhibition

Hull prisoners will be sharing their memories and stories of Hull as part of an exhibition on display at Hull Central Library.

From Monday 25 April you can see the ‘I Live Hull’ exhibition which includes handmade books and stories created by prisoners at HMP Hull coupled with audio recordings of the stories by Hull residents.

Council hunt fly-tippers in East Yorkshire

There's been an increase in illegal dumping of building waste in the East Riding.

The council are now hoping witnesses will come forward to help them identify the people responsible for incidents which saw rubble, sofas, chairs, tiles and decking dumped at the side of country roads in the North and South Newbald, Brough and Elloughton areas.

In the last few minutes a jury at Hull Crown court cleared 69-year-old Clifford Stott (pictured) of all eight historical charges of indecent assault that he was facing.

Wacky Bike Race in Beverley

With the Tour de Yorkshire due to start from Beverley a week today, traders in the town have announced they're going to stage their own charity bike race on the eve of the event. 

They're calling it the 'Wacky Bike Race'. Mandy Buchanan showed me the decorations on her bike:

There will also be a 1970s chopper bike and a bike with a cardboard house on top of it and other pushbikes currently being worked on.

The money raised will be donated to the RNLI.

Just one thing to note - the A614 near Howden is closed and a new diversion should be in place today.

Network Rail say the new diversion will take you along the M62 instead of through Howden.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council says it's seen a sharp increase in the illegal fly-tipping of building waste in the North and South Newbald, Brough and Elloughton areas. 

They're appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
