Five arrested after fracas in East Hull

An investigation is under way following a disturbance in East Hull at the weekend.

Two separate groups of people were involved in the incident shortly before 19:30 on Saturday 7 May which saw them fighting in John Hadland Park off Preston Road in the city.

Four men and one woman were taken into police custody and questioned and all have now been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Blue Plaque unveiled in Hull for high society dressmaker

Dressmaker to high society, Madame Emily Clapham, has been honoured with the unveiling of a plaque on the wall of her former fashion house in Hull this afternoon.

Emily Clapham opened her fashion house in Hull with her husband Haigh Clapham in 1887.

Tooth decay decreasing in area

More than 28% of five-year-olds in Yorkshire and the Humber had decayed, missing or filled teeth.

That's according to the latest Oral Health Survey published by Public Health England.

It's downfrom 33.6% at the last survey in 2012 and 38.7% in 2008.

This is great news. However, one child with tooth decay is one too many."

Fans write to vice-chairman over 'fraudulent' claims

Hull City Supporters' Trust wants the club's vice-chairman Ehab Allam to explain how he reached a figure to suggest 14% of fans enter the stadium fraudulently. 

Mr Allam made the claim in his own open letter to fans explaining his position on the new membership scheme in last Saturday's match-day programme. 

The Trust has issued its own letter to Mr Allam.

Hull City players 'cool down' after training

Hull City's Alex Bruce has sent this tweet of him and some of the team "chilling out" in the Cryotherapy chamber following a training session. 

The Tigers face derby at the weekend in their bid to return to the Premier League.

Book of condolence opened for Hull KR legend Roger Millward

Hull KR have announced that a book of condolence has been made available for people to sign at their retail store and stadium.

The club has also retired the number six shirt worn by the club legend, who died at the age of 68 last week.

Opinions sought on plans to regenerate Beverley Road in Hull

People and businesses along Beverley Road in Hull are being invited to learn more about how they can get involved in area's Townscape Heritage Scheme.

The council was awarded £1.6m in 2015 to re-develop the south end.

Some of the money will be used to re-instate original features on historical buildings.

Fire authority 'response times not affected by cutting fire engines'

Humberside Fire Authority says that response times won't change for most incidents. 

They agreed yesterday to reduce the number of engines at Immingham from three to two but keep both stations open. 

Officials also decided 28 posts will go as the service looks to save £2m by 2020.

Plans to make Humber Bridge into major tourist attraction unveiled

The Humber Bridge board have unveiled new images to help turn the Humber Bridge into a major tourist attraction.

The plans include a new visitor centre, with  people accessing gondolas and lifts, which can take them to the top of the north tower.

Keith Hunter won the PCC election last Thursday and replaces Matthew Grove.

Mr Hunter says the force hasn't been good enough and it shouldn't be making excuses.

Driver dies after crashing into fence in Pocklington

On Monday a 73-year-old man was airlifted to York hospital after he had been taken ill at the wheel. He later died.

Police believe the man drove his silver Ford Mondeo along Cemetery Lane before failing to stop at a Give Way line and crossing a T-junction. He then hit the iron fence.

Howden and Haltemprice MP David Davis has welcomed that a publication date for the Chilcot inquiry has been announced, but has criticised the time it's taken. 

The public inquiry was launched in 2009 and looked into the UK's participation in the US-led invasion of Iraq.   

At last the families of those 179 British soldiers who died fighting for their country in Iraq (between 2003 and 2009) will get some closure, and hopefully some measure of solace in the truth."

Photos emerge of Cold War evacuation exercise in Hull

Staff at the East Riding archives want to talk to people who took part in a Cold War evacuation exercise nearly 55 years ago. 

All that remains is a collection of striking black and white photographs of people boarding the Humber Ferries in May 1961. 

The photos were found by chance at the Treasure House in Beverley.

Watch: Funding helps secure East Yorkshire community project's future

A community project in East Yorkshire has secured hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of funding from the Big Lottery fund. 

The Moorlands Centre in Goole has been awarded more than £400,000 which will support the project for the next three years. 

Volunteers at the centre help people find employment.

People near Hull primary school 'fed up' over parking problems

People living near a west Hull school say the are fed up with parents parking on yellow lines, in front of their drives and on ten-foots. 

Complaints have been made to East Field Primary school about dangerous parking in the area. 

The school say they are working with the police and the council to improve the situation and access to the school from Eastfield Road is due to be closed later this year.
