  • Hull MP Diana Johnson says she's had a constructive meeting with the City Council about fly grazing horses.
  • Hull City has won two trophies for match-day hospitality at the Stadium Experience Awards held in Covenry last night.

Hull and East Yorkshire could get new inpatient unit for young people

NHS England says it's looking at bringing back an inpatient unit for children and young adults with mental health problems and will provide specialist beds.

It comes after people campaigned following the Westend Centre in Hessle closing its residential site in 2013, meaning some children travelling hundreds of miles to receive treatment. 

NHS England are asking people to give their opinion on proposals for a new unit.

An independent panel has ruled that the decision to dismiss a former police sergeant following a misconduct hearing last year was correct.

Police Sergeant John Stevenson was found guilty of gross misconduct following an incident in November 

He was caught on CCTV kicking a sixteen year old boy in the head during an arrest.

We take allegations surrounding the conduct of our officers very seriously and as such we will thoroughly investigate such complaints.

Hull MP Diana Johnson say she's had a constructive meeting with the City Council about the fly grazing of horses.

It's thought 250 horses and ponies are illegally tethered on public land in Hull and East Yorkshire. 

Officials have agreed to visit a site commonly used for fly grazing with MPs to see what more can be done.

One day hip replacement is first at Castle Hill

A retired electrician from Beverley has become the first person in Britain to have one day hip replacement surgery. 

Seventy-one year old Chris Walker had the operation done at Castle Hill Hospital where they are trialling fast-track hip and knee replacement surgery. 

A total of 20 patients are taking part in the pilot project.

We will be speaking to Chris later in the day.

Crane company secure £43m contact to supply Siemens wind turbine plant in Hull

Heavy lift specialists ALE have secured a £43m contract with Siemens to help with the transportation of wind blades at their new factory in Hull and other UK sites.

The contract is for ALE to provide cranes, specialised transport and personnel.   

It will run from 2016-2019.

The first wind turbines are expected to be manufactured at the new site in Hull in five months.

An increase in Otters: a conservation success story or a nuisance to fishery owners?

It's being claimed that a sharp rise in the otter population is creating big problems for thousands of the region's anglers. 

Otters were once nearly extinct in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire but numbers have increased significantly in recent years. 

Local fishery owners say their valuable fish stocks are now being targeted.

Super League leaders Hull FC are in action tonight against the Widnes Vikings.

The black and whites currently sit two points clear at the top of the league table after beating St Helens last weekend. 

FC were beaten by 40 points when they faced Widnes earlier in the season. But head coach Lee Radford says they're a much better side going into tonight's match.
