It's been a moving day of remembrance and there are more commemoration events to mark the 100 years since the Battle of the Somme over the weekend.

A Moth for Amy

They are part of the Amy Johnson Festival which gets underway tomorrow.

Like the Larkin Toads before them, there will be a trial of them around the city.

A map is now available on their website

Maps are also available from all libraries and the Tourist Information Centres.

A 4-year-old boy was bitten by a dog in the park on the Quadrant in Hull on Saturday 25 June at 4.30pm.

Luckily he was not seriously injured but police are investigating the incident.

Firefighters are now damping down at an industrial estate in East Yorkshire after a large blaze at an aerosol manufacturer.

The blaze was at the estate in Pocklington yesterday evening and the smoke, which rose hundreds of feet in the air, could be seen from miles around.

Somme 100: Bridlington remembers

This morning we heard the personal stories of two men from Bridlington who were killed on the Somme.

At the town's War Memorial next to Christ Church a vigil was held at 07:30 (BST) with three blasts of the whistle.

A short service also took place there at 11:00 (BST) with readings and poems.

Hull City Council: Voluntary redundancies

Today is the last day staff at Hull City Council can let the authority know they want take voluntary redundancy.

The council says the redundancies are due to "increasing financial pressures".

Pocklington fire investigation

Did you see the huge plume of black smoke in Pocklington last night? 

A major fire destroyed an aerosol factory on Halifax Way.

60 firefighters were needed to control the flames, explosions and black smoke and they spent the night damping down.

Luckily no one was hurt and an investigation has now started to establish the cause.

More than 19,000 British servicemen died on the first day of the battle during World War One. 

Reverend Neil Barnes from Holy Trinity Church has led a service at Hull's Cenotaph marking the moment the men went "over the top" at zero hour - 07:30.
