Goodbye: Five things we learnt today

Caroline Brockelbank

BBC Radio Humberside

Thank you for joining us on our live feed across East Yorkshire and the Humber today. I'm back with you tomorrow morning from 08:00.

Lets look back at five things we didn't know when we woke up this morning...

  1. As one old drilling site is returned to agricultural land, another permit is given for a different drilling site in East Yorkshire
  2. Lincolnshire is the worst area in the country for rural crime
  3. Some people are very unhappy they didn't receive funding for their City of Culture community projects
  4. There's rumours that Hull City's Mo Diame will transfer
  5. And half our region's been celebrating Yorkshire Day.

And because of that, I think it's only fair I leave you with a picture taken today in Yorkshire. This one is of the Coastal Voices Choir singing today in Bridlington.

Caroline Brockelbank

BBC Radio Humberside

North Lincolnshire Council has drawn up plans for the design and construction of the new railway bridge on A18 Melton Ross (pictured) which is expected to be installed as early as 2018 at a cost of £7.6m.

The council will consult with residents and local landowners before making a final decision.

In 2014 inspectors found the bridge was too weak to hold the traffic it used to hold so temporary traffic restrictions were put in place to deal with the problem.

Former drilling site near Beverley restored to agricultural land

Caroline Brockelbank

BBC Radio Humberside

A redundant exploratory drilling site in East Yorkshire has been restored to its previous state as agricultural land.

The Environment Agency has accepted the surrender of the environmental permit for the well site at Crawberry Hill, near Beverley, after Rathlin Energy UK Ltd decided to stop using the borehole.

The site had been controversial with anti-fracking protestors camping there on a daily basis before the company announced they were pulling out of the site.

BBC Radio Humberside

About 2,000 runners took part in the 10K race around the streets of the North East Lincolnshire town yesterday.
