Your views: Councillors turn down plans for Humber Bridge attraction

BBC Look North

East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire

Hessle Town Council has rejected plans which include a new glass elevator and tourist centre at the Humber Bridge.

Councillors raised concerns about traffic chaos and a threat to the nearby Country Park.

You have been contacting BBC Look North about this story.

Surely investment on an iconic attraction would bring in tourists and extra money for the local economy. Hessle Councillors are turning money away.

Holidaymakers will be able to use the paddling pool at Cleethorpes again from today.

It was closed during the hottest week of the year almost two weeks ago, while the plant room underwent repair works to bring it in line with health and safety standards.

Some questioned why the work hadn't been carried out before the summer season began.

But the council said it had to ensure it meets standards and is now in full working order in time for most of the school holidays.
