Masked gang attack man in Scunthorpe

A masked gang wearing balaclavas attacked a man in Scunthorpe on Friday 19 August.

The group launched their attack on the victim's car at the junction of Teale and Berkeley Street at around 19:00 BST.

As the victim got out of his car one of the group and attacked him with a knife.

Hull FC Players release cup song

Hull FC players past and present have teamed up to release a double track Wembley record ahead of their Challenge Cup Final.

Former cup hero Sammy Lloyd, has worked with the club and local band Hillbilly Troupe to produce his very own ode to Hull FC, called ‘Come on you ‘ull!’

Both songs are available to download from iTunes.

Both songs are an emotive tribute to the club, the players and the fans and the perfect soundtrack from cup final week and hopefully will raise plenty of money for some great causes too."

Hull has been named among the worst places in England for people getting their recycling wrong, meaning tons of recyclable waste is rejected. 

The city's now spending £100,000 on consultants to get the message across.

North Lincolnshire woman charged with racial harassment

A North Lincolnshire woman has been charged with racially harassing another woman.

Elaine Kirk, 52, from Bridge Street in Brigg, is accused of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, and racially aggravated intentional harassment following an incident at the end of last month.

She is due to appear before North Lincolnshire Magistrates next Thursday.

East Yorkshire autism charity under threat

A  service providing social support to hundreds of people with 'Aspergers' and 'High Functioning Autism' in Hull and East Yorkshire is under threat. 

'Matthew's Hub' needs to find new backers. it was set up in the name of 'Matthew Battye,' who took his own life after struggling with anxiety and depression related to his diagnosis.

Should boundaries across Hull be changed?

People in Hull are being asked what they think to changing the ward boundaries across the city. 

The Independent Local Government Boundary Commission for England says the city should have 57 councillors in the future, two fewer than they have now.

It's asking people for help in putting together a new pattern of wards. 

Tests to see if hair is from H.M.S Bounty sailors

Pigtails of hair, supposedly from sailors responsible for the mutiny on the Bounty in 1789, are being studied at King's College in London in an attempt to find their ancestors. 

The story of the British Navy ship H.M.S. Bounty, which was built in Hull, was made famous by a trilogy of books and five Hollywood films

The study hopes to conclude that the 200-year-old hairs come from some of the most famous troublemakers in naval history, and, if successful, it will be the only physical proof of their identity.

Hull woman raises money for domestic abuse victims

A worker who helps female domestic abuse victims is about to begin a personal challenge to raise money for new facilities.

FAlison Ashton, from Preston Road Women's Centre, will go 24 hours without speaking; she's raising money for a new building to meet increasing demand for their services.

Alison says she also wants to highlight that women the centre helps often don't have a voice.

Fears over protected 'Grimsby smoked fish' name

Fish traditionally smoked in Grimsby should be protected by laws to retain its name after the UK leaves the EU, according the chairman of the protected name association. 

There are 72 protected food names in the UK with traditional Grimsby Smoked Fish being one of them.

There are concerns that our departure from the EU could compromise such official names.

Matthew O'Callaghan says it's important for jobs and local economies.

Hull City Council says it wants to preserve the memory of rugby league player Roger Millward MBE by naming a road after him.

The former Great Britain and England international died in May at the age of 68. 

He scored a record 207 tries for Hull KR.

The council has announced it wants to rename Garrison Road as Roger Millward Way.
