Nick Ottewell, Kent National Farmers' Union chairman, welcomes this morning's comments by European Commissioner Phil Hogan.

Mr Hogan told an audience at the Kent County Show that nothing would change for farmers while Brexit negotiations are ongoing.

But Mr Ottewell has concerns over how a devalued pound will affect Kent farmers' ability to bring in seasonal labour.

F1 hope heads to first Silverstone Grand Prix

Jolyon Palmer will race in his first Silverstone F1 Grand Prix this Sunday. Among the crowds watching the 25-year-old will be his father Jonathan - the owner of the Kent circuit Brands Hatch.

Cricket: Kent's T20 hopes kept alive

Kent's cricketers kept their hopes of qualifying for the T20 Blast quarter finals alive with a 12-run victory over Somerset at Taunton.

Skipper Sam Northeast top scored with 75 from 42 balls whilst Darren Stevens took three wickets.

Armed robbery in Tunbridge Wells

An armed robber targetted Thomas Cook in Tunbridge Wells earlier.

Kent Police said the robbery took place at the travel agent in Mount Pleasant Road at 11:35 BST. 

No one is reported to be injured and no arrests have been made.

Work to restore historic building near Sevenoaks

When torrential rain caused flash flooding at Ightham Mote, near Sevenoaks two weeks ago, there were fears it could cause irreparable damage to the 14th Century manor house.

A huge conservation effort by volunteers has enabled the National Trust property to reopen to the public.

Busy week for the Gills

It’s been a busy week for the Gills.

Nineteen-year-old striker Joe Quigley became their fourth signing of the week last night - he joins from Premier League side Bournemouth on loan until end of January.

Quigley hasn't made a first team appearance for his parent club, but spent parts of last season on loan at Wrexham and Woking.

Southern Rail has responded to the RMT's offer to suspend strike action, if the rail franchise agrees to suspend new conductor contracts:

We are not rejecting the offer but we will not be negotiating in public.

He is reassuring farmers that nothing will change in the very near future after the decision to leave the European Union

He says, while Brexit negotiations are going on, nothing will change in the deal they have with the EU.

Southern cuts: RMT offers to suspend industrial action

The RMT union has offered to suspend industrial action in a dispute which has left passengers suffering delays and cancellations for months.

Southern plans to introduce more driver-only trains from 21 August with conductors no longer operating doors.

The RMT union said it would not call further action for three months if Southern also suspended its proposals for a similar period.

Southern said it wanted to "resolve the thing now".

One road safety expert says Junior Lowe's driving "irresponsible" and a "crazy thing to do".

The 34 year old, from Catford in South London, reached speeds of 110 mph as he tried to evade capture on the M25, the M20 and the M26.

A speeding motorist who drove the wrong way on the M26 motorway in Kent to try to get away from the police has been jailed for 16 months.

As food producers gather for the three-day Kent County Show, there are calls for a scheme to make sure farmers can still get a supply of seasonal workers from Europe despite Brexit.

On the first day of the Kent County Show, the National Farmers Union is warning of the impact Brexit could have on food production.

Nick Ottewell, the Kent chairman, says local farmers are heavily dependent on seasonal workers.
