Dead dog found in public park

Bob Dale

BBC Live reporter

The body of a Staffordshire bull terrier bitch was found dumped in a park in Margate.

The dog's remains were in a plastic bag, alongside a teddy bear, in Dane Park.

It's not yet known how she died.

The RSPCA are investigating.

This was a really heartbreaking situation and a harrowing find for the couple that found this poor dog. We don't know how she came to be there, and there's no obvious reason for her death but we are suspicious about the circumstances."

Easter rail travel hit by London Bridge works

Bob Dale

BBC Live reporter

Rail passengers travelling from the South East through London face disruption over the Easter break, as work continues to overhaul London Bridge station.

London Bridge station
BBC

There'll be no Southeastern services to or from Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge on Good Friday, Easter Saturday, 14 and 15 April.

No trains will run to or from Cannon Street from 14 - 17 April.

There'll also be no Southeastern trains at Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill or Westcombe Park over the whole Easter break.

Services will also be affected during the bank holidays in May and August.

We understand that it has been tough and urge passengers to plan ahead throughout 2017, while we work round-the-clock on our Railway Upgrade Plan to improve journeys to and through London for the millions of passengers that use the UK’s busiest stretch of railway each year.'

Andrew Hutton Lead development manager for London Bridge station, Network Rail

Are you owed money by Southern?

Brighton station
BBC

If you had a Southern season ticket last year, and you haven't been told you're eligible for a refund, you should contact the operator now.

Last December the government announced a one-off compensation scheme just for Southern's passengers, to make up for the severe disruption of 2016.

You'll get a payout if you had season tickets for at least 12 weeks, between 1 April and 31 December.

Southern says it's already contacted passengers who qualify, but if you think you do and you haven't heard anything, you can check here .

Last year was very difficult for Southern passengers and I am glad this scheme recognises this. I would urge season ticket holders to go online and claim if they believe they are eligible for compensation.'

Angie Doll Passenger Services Director, Southern

Row over changes to bus routes

Bob Dale

BBC Live reporter

Arriva buses in Medway
BBC

A shake-up of bus services by Arriva has provoked anger.

Arriva says it's streamlining its routes, with congestion in Maidstone blamed for some buses not being able to keep to timetables.

But campaigners claim it amounts to cuts, while some MPs say they're receiving a growing number of complaints.

There is a moral duty and responsibility to provide a service into areas of the county which aren't served by any other means of public transport, and I think that Arriva are failing in that duty.'
