Stuart Maisner

Fans of the veteran BBC radio presenter Dave Cash, who died last year at the age of 74, have begun a petition to have a Kent roundabout named after him.

The former Radio One and BBC Radio Kent DJ lived in Hollingbourne - near the roundabout at junction eight on the M20 - and often mentioned it during travel bulletins.

Listeners want to remember him by naming the junction Dave Cash Corner. The petition will be presented to the Maidstone MP Helen Grant.

Remains found in reservoir confirmed as 1997 murder victim

Missing Sandie Bowen poster
Gwent Constabulary

Human remains found in a reservoir near Newport have been confirmed as those of a woman murdered 20 years ago.

The body  was discovered at Wentwood Reservoir , near Newport, on 2 February and DNA analysis has now confirmed it is that of Sandie Bowen.

Mrs Bowen, 53, was murdered by her husband Michael Raymond Bowen in 1997 but he never revealed where he hid her body.

Bowen was  jailed for life  in 1998.

Throughout his murder trial, he denied any involvement in her disappearance and claimed he had dropped her off in the centre of Newport to catch a bus or train to Folkestone, Kent.

Gwent Police said a post-mortem examination of her body had been carried out and forensic analysis of a sample of DNA which was extracted from the bones had been completed.

The force said Mrs Bowen's family had been notified and were being supported by specialist officers.
