UKIP's Mark Reckless to join Conservatives in Welsh Assembly

There is bad blood in Tory Party over me, says Reckless

UKIP's Mark Reckless has confirmed he is joining the Conservative group in the Welsh Assembly.

The South Wales East AM and former Rochester and Strood MP will sit as a Tory but will not join the party.

Conservative group leader Andrew RT Davies welcomed a "hard-working and dedicated" AM, saying it made his party the official opposition to Labour.

But Gower MP and ex-AM Byron Davies said allowing Mr Reckless into the group was "not a particularly bright idea".

A new film about X-Ray Spex singer Poly Styrene is in the works.

Here are some facts you might not have known about her...

Distraction burglary warning

You're being reminded by Kent Police to keep your doors and windows secure during the sunny weather.

It follows a distraction burglary in Ramsgate on 30 March.

A woman in her 80s reported that she answered the front door to a woman who was asking if gardening work was available.

Shortly after, the victim realised her handbag containing cash, a bank card and other personal items was missing from inside the house.

The woman was described as being white, aged between 40 to 50 years old, with a spotty complexion.

Officers would also like to identify a man who was reported to be in the area at the time, described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40 years old, of a medium build and with dark hair.

"We are also grateful for the continued support of the hospital where she is being treated.

"The incident has ruined our lives and the lives of our two children.

"We ask that people now respect our privacy and give us time to focus on the wellbeing of our family."

The little girl, who has been named locally as Victoria Resetnjova and is thought to be around 18-months-old, is in hospital with very serious injuries after being attacked in Chatham on Tuesday.

Claims over dog microchipping

Stuart Maisner

BBC Live reporter

The Dogs Trust says more than 40,000 people in the South East are breaking the law by not having their dogs microchipped.

The rules changed this time last year requiring all dogs to be fitted with a chip.

It's meant to make it easier to reunite lost pets with their owners.

The charity says 10% of stray dogs kept in local authority kennels last year couldn't be reunited with their owners simply because they didn't have up-to-date microchip details.

Flytipping CCTV released in Canterbury

An investigation into flytipping on the site of a disused pub has led to footage being released.

Dredging controversy off coast at Dover

Stuart Maisner

BBC Live reporter

Jobs and investment in Dover Port could be under threat if it's not allowed to dredge material from the Goodwin Sands.

That's the claim from the harbour board, which has ambitious plans to redevelop the Western Docks.

But campaigners are concerned the work could disturb wildlife and war graves at sea.

The Goodwin Sands off the East Kent coast mark the final resting place of scores of RAF pilots and crew, as well as German flyers, who fought in the Battle of Britain.
