The 33-year-old former Royal Marine was found at the bottom of a ravine a few days after arriving on the French island in the Indian Ocean five years ago.

Vincent Madoure, a 30-year-old cleaner, has been convicted of his murder.

BreakingMan guilty of murder of Kent teacher on Reunion Island

Vincent Madoure, 30, of French nationality, a former cleaner on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean has been found guilty of the murder of Kent teacher Carl Davies.

Mr Davies, who was 33, and a former Royal Marine Commando from Sittingbourne, died in November 2011. He had been stabbed and beaten.

Madoure has been sentenced to 15 years in Jail.

Southern plans new timetable if Aslef drivers' overtime ban goes ahead

Southern Railway plans to operate a revised timetable if drivers belonging to the union Aslef begin an overtime ban on Thursday 29 June.

The company plans to operate 75% of its weekday services on Thursday and Friday, 29 and 30 June, and is working to improve on this number from Monday 3 July.

Witnesses appeal after two sexual assault in Edenbridge

There have been two reports of sexual assaults in Edenbridge.

On 20 June a woman was leaving Edenbridge Train Station and walking along Stangrove Road at around 21:50 BST when a man approached her and touched her inappropriately.

Police received a second report from another woman who was walking home from the station on the same evening at around 22:30 BST.

A man approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately. The victim ran away.

The man has been described as white, aged 20 to 30, approximately 5ft 9in, of slim-to-medium build.

Report finds senior church figures colluded with ex-bishop over abuse

Update: Herne Bay fire

Kent Fire and Rescue say 45 firefighters are now at the scene of a large fire in a wood store on Herne Bay business park.

Eight fire engines were called to the building in Eddington Lane at about 08:50 BST.

Crews say they've managed to bring the fire under control using a specialist foam system and they hope to be able to scale down the incident shortly.

Twenty five firefighters are at the scene of a large fire on Herne Bay business park.

Kent Fire and Rescue say they were called to Eddington Lane at about 08:50 BST.

The one-storey building is used as a wood store.

Crews say the fire is creating a large amount of smoke and they’re warning people living nearby to keep doors and windows closed.

Some of the South East's fruit farmers say they haven't been able to hire enough migrant seasonal workers this summer.

13 Kent farmers replied to a BBC Survey - 12 said recruitment was harder than last year and only five said they had enough workers.

I asked a fruit farmer from Goodnestone, near Faversham, if he was worried about the future of his business.
