George Low: Parents tell of shock over release of murder suspect

The parents of a man murdered in Cyprus have expressed their shock over the release of a murder suspect in the northern part of the island.

Estate agent George Low, 22, from Dartford, was killed near a nightclub in Ayia Napa in Cyprus in August.

An arrest warrant was issued for Sali Ahmet, 42, who fled to the north with a second suspect, Mehmet Akpinar, 22.

They were arrested there for an unrelated offence but both were allowed to leave without being charged.

Imagine having to inject yourself thousands of times over the course of your lifetime, but never talking about it to anyone.

Many people live with hidden disabilities - conditions which don't have physical signs but are painful, exhausting and isolating. Sympathy and understanding from others can often be in short supply.

BBC Radio Kent's Erika North explains what it's like to have a hidden disability.

Taxi driver assaulted by teenage girls

Two 16-year-old girls from Ashford have been charged with assault on a taxi driver in Betherden.

Both girls have been charged with assaulting a man, and one of them has also been charged with causing criminal damage.

The pair, who are both from the Ashford area, have been bailed to appear at Folkestone Youth Court on 1 August.

Nine million cigarettes smuggled illegally

A lorry driver who smuggled millions of cigarettes into the UK inside air filter units, evading £2.5m in duty, has been jailed for three years.

Andrzej Krasnodebski, 45, was arrested by Border Force officers at Dover Eastern Docks in June.

Officers discovered 1,056 cardboard boxes on the lorry containing filters. Each one had 9,000 cigarettes hidden inside.

HMRC investigated and discovered the import documents were false and the legitimate UK business named on the paperwork was not expecting a delivery of air filters.

Krasnodebski pleaded guilty to evading excise duty and was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court.

Warning to dog owners

Calls to the RSPCA complaining about unscrupulous puppy sales have risen in the South East.

Car pursued from West Kent into capital

Patrol cars and a helicopter were used to stop a car, after chasing it up the A21 from West Kent into London.

Officers were called to a suspected burglary in Sovereign Way, Tonbridge at 15:56 BST on 15 July.

The vehicle drove off when police tried to stop it.

It was eventually stopped in Wharf Street in London.

A man in his 40s is being questioned on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving, and a man in his 50s on suspicion of burglary.

A man's in hospital in London after being stabbed in a fast food restaurant in Gravesend.

He was found by police at the McDonald's in New Road at 03:45 BST on 16 July.

Detectives are searching for two men in relation to the attack.

One is black, aged 16 to 20, 5ft 8in tall and medium build, while the second had short hair and was wearing dark grey tracksuit bottoms.

ICYMI: New technology to prevent accidents on railway tracks

From this morning new technology is being used to keep people safe on some of the South East's level crossings.

Warnings will be sent to mobile phones as pedestrians and drivers approach one of seven crossings in Kent and Sussex.

It comes as shocking footage is released, showing youngsters taking pictures as they walk on railway lines.
