Cyclist hurt in Larkfield collision

A cyclist was airlifted to hospital after a collision between his bike and a car in Larkfield.

Police say it happened just after 10:30 BST yesterday on the A20 London Road at its junction with Lunsford Lane.

The cyclist, who's in his 50s, suffered serious injuries to his head and body.

Police are asking anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

A 12-year-old girl from Kent has become the youngest person to climb all of the 214 Cumbrian peaks listed in Alfred Wainwright's famous guide to the Lakeland Fells.

But for Lauren Richardson, who's from Hoo, it's been an achievement with a difference.

She's one of the country's youngest amateur radio operators and at the summit of each peak she made radio contact with other "radio hams"

Heroin seized after cyclist stopped in Maidstone

A man's been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences as he cycled through Maidstone.

The 23-year-old from Catford, London, was stopped by police yesterday as he rode across a bridge near Maidstone East station following reports of suspicious behaviour.

Officers recovered 39 wraps which are believed to contain heroin and crack cocaine.

The man was questioned on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and later released while police continue their investigation.

Project to help protect future of bees

Almost £1m of lottery funding is being spent on helping protect endangered bumblebees.

RNLI launches campaign during 'deadliest' month

The RNLI is urging people to "respect the water" this summer as part of a drowning prevention campaign.

The charity says more people die in UK waters in August than any other month.

A damning report into an ambulance trust has revealed a culture of bullying and harassment with concerns over "toxic" atmospheres, sexual grooming and a fear of speaking out.

When bullying claims at South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) emerged in February the trust commissioned an independent review.

About half the workforce surveyed experienced bullying in the past year.

The trust said the report revealed "unacceptable" behaviour. Read more here.

Mural tribute toTaiyah Peebles

A giant mural has been painted in memory of a teenager who was electrocuted on a railway line.

The body of Taiyah Peebles was discovered on the tracks near Herne Bay station last week.

Margate artist Vince Pugh says he painted the mural as a "mark of respect" to the teenager.

Eli Cox's mother Katherine Cox, and her boyfriend Danny Shepherd, had both denied causing or allowing his death in April last year.
