The cousin of a man convicted of causing the death of Eli Cox says the child protection system failed him.

Eli's mum Katherine Cox and her partner Danny Shepherd were convicted on Thursday.

Emjay Ivory says the family were regularly visited by social workers in the months leading up to Eli's death.

Six people, aged between 17 and 40, have been released without charge following an illegal rave in Swanley.

Five more people, aged between 17 and 20, have been released pending further enquiries.

They were arrested when police raided an industrial unit in Mark Way on Saturday, where up to 500 people had gathered.

Those arrested were from, Gravesend, London, Richmond in Surrey and Welwyn Garden City.

A 41-year-old man from Shepherds Bush has been issued with a cannabis warning.

Talks aimed at resolving a long-running dispute over driver-only operated trains on Southern rail have "stalled" with no agreement, the RMT union said.

It follows more than two hours of talks between leaders of the union and officials from Southern's parent firm, Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR).

RMT general secretary Mick Cash called for round table discussions involving all parties to now take place.

"This dispute can be resolved, we have no doubt about that," he said.

Charges over restaurant stabbing

A teenager's been charged following a stabbing in a fast food restaurant in Gravesend.

Police and paramedics were called to the McDonald's in New Road at 03:45 BST on 16 July, where they found a man with stab wounds.

He was treated in a London hospital and has since been discharged.

An 18-year-old man, who was arrested in Gravesend around 19:30 BST on 2 August, has now been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

He's been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court on 1 September.

The body of Taiyah Peebles was discovered on the tracks near Herne Bay station last week.

Arrests made over 'substance' attack

Two people have been arrested and bailed in connection with an incident in which a man allegedly had a substance thrown at him.

Police were called to a premises off the Thanet Way in Whitstable at 08:49 BST on 5 August.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene, before he was taken to hospital.

A 25-year-old woman's been arrested on suspicion of assault, and a 51-year-old man's been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and to cause criminal damage.

RNLI launches campaign during 'deadliest' month
