'We feel abandoned and let down'

The parents of two severely disabled children forced to sleep in the living room of their council house in Ramsgate because they can't get up the stairs, say they feel "abandoned and let down" by the authorities.

They've turned down one house they were offered because they say it's not suitable.

Thanet District Council say they don't have anything else available.

Police investigating an alleged assault in Deal want to speak to a number of people they believe may be able to help with their enquiries.

A man in his 60s reported being assaulted on the beach near the Prince of Wales Terrace on Monday 24 July 2017 at 19:50 BST.

Officers are asking anyone who recognises those in the images to contact them.

A 12-year-old girl from Kent has become the youngest person to climb all of the 214 Cumbrian peaks listed in Alfred Wainwright's famous guide to the Lakeland Fells.

But for Lauren Richardson, who's from Hoo, it's been an achievement with a difference.

She's one of the country's youngest amateur radio operators and at the summit of each peak she made radio contact with other "radio hams"

Three arrested after medical equipment stolen

Three men have been arrested following thefts from ambulance stations across south-east England.

Police seized tens of thousands of pounds worth of medical equipment in a series of early-morning raids on addresses in Canterbury, Herne Bay, Hoath, Seasalter and at the Chislet Business Park in Hersden.

A 44-year-old man from Hoath was arrested on suspicion of robbery, aggravated burglary and handling stolen goods.

A 48-year-old man from Telford, in Shropshire, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

A 33-year-old man from Herne Bay was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

A mum-of-four from Gillingham, Kent, has been found guilty of trying to smuggle 12 Vietnamese migrants into the UK through the Channel Tunnel.

Katy Bethel, 28, was heavily pregnant at the time.

Tributes paid to man who died attempting to swim English Channel

The girlfriend of a man who died while trying to cross the English Channel as part of an endurance event has described him as "kind, generous and loyal" and says she hopes he is remembered for all of his sporting achievements.

Lola Lewis says Douglas Waymark had prepared "meticulously" for the Enduroman event which sees athletes attempt to run, swim and cycle the 300 miles from London to Paris.

Mr Waymark got into difficulty about halfway across the Channel on Monday.

Air show pilot 'wearing wrong sort of lifejacket'

An air show pilot who ditched his plane into the sea got wedged in the cockpit because he was wearing the wrong sort of lifejacket, the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) has found.

The pilot was giving a display of balloon bursting when the plane lost power.

The light aircraft came down in shallow water off Herne Bay during a display in the town on 14 August 2016.

The pilot's lifejacket then inflated automatically inside the plane.

The Coastguard was called to the Kent coast on Thursday evening after a 999 call.

They found a wind surfer clinging to his kite board around half a mile from the shore, near the Dungeness Power Station.

After checking he was okay he was safely brought back to the shore.
