A dry Christmas Eve night with wintry showers

It'll be dry this evening and at first tonight with long clear spells. Scattered showers will spread southwards later, wintry over the hills, with a minimum temperature of about 3C (37F).

Christmas Day will see scattered showers, wintry on the hills, soon fading to leave a cold but sunny day.

There'll be lighter northerly winds and a high of 6C (43F)

Extra police are patrolling West Yorkshire's railway stations and trains during the run-up to Christmas

in a bid to "provide support and reassurance" to passengers and staff.

Delays for M62 drivers

according to police.

Fire crews called to house fire in Cleckheaton

A man from Cleckheaton is "lucky to be alive" this morning

after his house caught fire last night.

Fire crews from Batley and Cleckheaton were called to an address in West End Drive at round 19:55pm and managed to extinguish the blaze, which has caused severe damage to a bedroom.

Rent cut for Kirkgate traders

Outside traders at one of Leeds' most historic city markets

are to receive a 20% rent cut in 2015, Leeds City Council has said.

All traders with a regular licence to trade at Leeds Kirkgate Open Market will be granted the reduction in their base rent by the council from 1 January 2015 until 31 December 2015.

Search continues for missing man

Police investigating the disappearance of a man following his work Christmas party in Leeds say they're still keeping an "open mind" about what's happened to him.

Kalist Musinga, who's 50, hasn't been seen since the early hours of Friday. A police search is focused on the Royal Armouries area of the city centre.

Det Insp Marc Bowes has told

BBC Radio Leeds that police are looking into the possibility Mr Musinga has fallen into the River Aire.

Rail services over Christmas

Northern Rail is reminding passengers that

services will start to wind down across the network from 19:00, with very few trains running after 21:00.

Services will not run at all on Christmas Day or Boxing Day and a normal service will resume on Saturday 27 December, except for a few very early morning services.

New Year's Eve will again see services winding down from 19:00 and services will start a little later on New Year's Day. Normal service will resume on Friday 2 January 2014.
