Austin to leave Leeds?

Leeds United midfielder Rodolph Austin could be on his way out of Elland Road,

according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Millwall are interested in signing the Jamaican, and the whites are reportedly willing to let him leave if a move to sign Slovenian midfielder Rene Krhin from Inter Milan comes off.

Brighton are also keen on recruiting Austin, whose deal expires in June.

Woman rescued from house blaze

A semi-conscious woman was rescued from a house fire in Rawthorpe, Huddersfield, on New Year's Eve.

Firefighters found the 45-year-old slumped on the floor of a first-floor bedroom at the house in Rawthorpe Crescent.

She was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation, while her partner was also checked by doctors after he managed to escape the blaze.

weather warning for very strong winds across Yorkshire and the Humber. There will be very strong southwesterly winds with gusts of 50 to 60 mph around exposed coasts.

Final charity light display raises £5,300

A couple who decorate their house and garden with about 30,000 Christmas lights for charity raised more than £5,300 with their final festive display.

Jon and Jennifer Sharpe, of Featherstone, West Yorkshire, have raised about £20,000 for a nearby hospice in the past five years.

They switched this year's display off last night and have decided to pull the plug on future events.

Rail passengers must now be told if they can get cheaper tickets for their journeys, following an agreement by rail companies,

BBC News Online reports.

Train operators across Britain have signed up to a code of practice designed to help travellers get the best deal possible.

It follows a summit called by the rail minister, Claire Perry, and comes on the eve of a 2.2% rise in rail fares.

Ambulance service 'busy'

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service has said it received 1,570 emergency calls overnight on New Year's Eve.

Its busiest time was between midnight and 03:00, when there were 51 calls to assaults.

It said New Year's Day so far has been slightly busier for the most serious type of calls than last year, and many of the calls received are alcohol-related.

on Twitter they can buy tickets to this Saturday's FA Cup game against Reading on its website.

Jennifer Winstanley Inglis, 30, and two-month-old Millie Mae Winstanley were last seen at 19:00 GMT that day in Blackpool, Lancashire - after travelling there from West Yorkshire.

Police say they have friends and family in the seaside town.

More on the serious crash on the A61 Hunslet Road in Leeds last night.

Police say two vehicles, a VW Passat and a Land Rover, were involved and two people were injured, with one of them suffering a broken collarbone.

It is the chain's 13th price cut in just over three months.
