The game had originally been scheduled for Sunday 17 May, but Rovers are away to Catalan Dragons in the Challenge Cup that weekend.

New deals for Huddersfield trio

Huddersfield Town have offered new deals

to midfielders Duane Holmes and Oscar Gobern and striker Ishmael Miller.

Gobern (pictured), 24, joined Town from Southampton in June 2011 and played 11 times in 2014-15, while Miller, 28, scored three goals in 15 games after joining from Blackpool in February.

The club have released Anthony Gerrard, Jonathan Stead, Martin Paterson, Jake Carroll and Daniel Carr.

Beacon marks VE Day anniversary

This Friday marks the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and events are being held across West Yorkshire to remember what happened on 8 May 1945.

As part of those events,

a beacon will be lit on Millennium Square in Leeds at exactly 21:32 - to signify the moment peace finally broke out.

Before a bugler announces the lighting of the beacon, a World War Two veteran will read out a special tribute. The beacon is one of a chain to be lit across the whole of the UK.

Motorcyclist in fatal collision

A 38-year-old Leeds motorcyclist died

after his bike was involved in a collision with a car yesterday, police have said.

The rider, from Leeds, collided with a BMW 318 in Selby Road at the junction with Carden Avenue at about 20:35 on Monday. He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The pillion passenger, a 33-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The 28-year-old male driver of the car wasn't injured.

tweeted images of what they're calling the "drain plunge ordeal" of six ducklings after they fell down a roadside drain off Two Laws Road in Keighley yesterday.

Thankfully, due to a joint operation between the fire service and the RSPCA, the story had a happy ending with the ducklings waddling back to their fretful mum and siblings.

Player had 'shaky legs' before collapsing

Keighley Cougars player Danny Jones, who collapsed during a game on Sunday and later died,

complained of "shaky legs" during the warm-up.

Jones, 29, asked to be substituted in the fourth minute of the League 1 match at London Skolars.

After collapsing pitch-side, the Wales international was later pronounced dead at the Royal Free Hospital.

Benevolent Fund raises £40,000

A prospective parliamentary candidate has come under fire for sharing a joke about Jimmy Savile on Twitter,

Conservative Craig Whittaker's tweet linked to an article by Daily Mail columnist Richard Littlejohn entitled "Trust Labour? I'd rather trust Jimmy Savile to babysit".

Mr Whittaker, who is standing in Calder Valley, West Yorkshire, is currently chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Children in Care.

He declined to comment when approached.

Cougars game to go ahead

Keighley Cougars have confirmed that Sunday's League One game against Coventry Bears at Cougar Park will go ahead at the request of Danny Jones' family.

The player died in hospital in London on Sunday after earlier collapsing at the side of the pitch during the Cougars' away game against London Skolars.

The Cougars say they'll contribute one third of the gate money from the Coventry game to Danny's widow Liz and their five-month-old twins.

Man seriously hurt in collision

A 67-year-old pedestrian is being treated for serious head injuries

after he was hit by a car in Bradford at the weekend.

The man was hit by a Toyta Hilux as he crossed Harrogate Road near the junction with New Lane at about 21:45 on Saturday.

He was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.

Scaffold fall man 'seriously injured'

A man has been left seriously injured after falling from scaffolding at the John Lewis development in Leeds city centre this morning, police have revealed.

The incident happened at about 08:05 when one man fell from the scaffolding and another was trapped at the building site at Harewood Street near Eastgate. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.

Det Insp Andy Welbourn says: "The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware of the incident and enquiries are ongoing."

had been disqualified from the club after being found guilty of tax evasion in Italy. He faces two further charges for similar offences next month.

the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race has told BBC Radio Leeds he wants it to become the "most significant annual sporting event in the UK".

Gary Verity, from Welcome to Yorkshire, says the inaugural race over the Bank Holiday weekend "exceeded expectations", with 1.5 million spectators watching it.

Two men have been taken to hospital in Leeds after scaffolding collapsed at a building site in the city centre this morning.

'Extreme concern' for missing woman

Police say they're "extremely concerned" for the welfare of a 49-year-old woman from Leeds

who's been missing from her home since Sunday morning.

Angela Wilson was last seen at about 10:30 on 3 May in Avenue Crescent, Harehills. Her disappearance is "out of character", according to police.

Angela is described as white, about 5ft tall with a petite build and short dark hair. She was wearing a black Berghaus jacket, dark blue jeans, black trainers and a dark patterned scarf.

No Blackpool v Huddersfield replay

Huddersfield Town will not need to replay or complete their match against Blackpool which was abandoned on Saturday

after a pitch invasion and a subsequent protest by home fans.

The Football League says there's "no justifiable purpose" in replaying the game as any result wouldn't have any bearing on promotion or relegation issues.

However, the Football League board will consider the result of the match in consultation with both clubs.

1997 fire death: Two held on suspicion of murder

A 65-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, both from Huddersfield, have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Joe McCafferty (pictured). Both are currently in custody, say police.

Sunday marked the 18th anniversary of Joe's death following an arson attack on his aunt's house in Haywood Avenue, Marsh, on 3 May, 1997.
