For most a dry evening and night with variable cloud and clear periods. Under clearer skies and with a light breeze a touch of frost is likely as temperatures drop to 2C (36F) in some spots. 


Tomorrow, we've got a chilly start but dry and bright at first with plenty of sunshine during the morning. Scattered showers developing during the afternoon, could be wintry over the hills. A maximum temperature of 10C (50F)ze.   

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats: Mickael Simon extends contract

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats prop Mickael Simon has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2017 season.

Simon, 29, joined the Wildcats from Catalans Dragons, and has played nine times in Super League this year.

Sex attacker jailed for more than 10 years

A West Yorkshire man's been jailed for ten and a half years for a sex attack on a four-year-old boy.

Thirty-year-old Tyler Lyness from Steeton, Keighley, also shared indecent images of the child on the internet.

He was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court today.

Former Co-op manager jailed for stealing £90,000 of stamps

A man from West Yorkshire has been jailed for stealing £90,000 worth of stamps from his employer which he used to fund foreign holidays and gambling.   


Andrew Swales, 39, of Woodland View, Thongsbridge, in Holmfirth, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today where he was sentenced to one year and eight months for theft after admitting theft. 

The court was told from 2009 to 2012 he ordered and then stole thousands of books of first and second class stamps while manager of the Co-op convenience store on Snape Hill Road, Darfield.

Work has begun to dismantle and rebuild an historic bridge that was wrecked by the Boxing Day floods. 

Elland Bridge has been closed since flood waters washed out its foundations.

From Bradford to Bahrain: West Yorkshire crisps to go on sale in the Gulf

Some news just in time for lunch, Bradford-based crisp maker Seabrooks have just agreed a deal to sell their crisps with Gulf-based grocer LuLu Hypermarket.

They'll make their first shipment from Bradford later this month, which will include bags of Sea Salt, Black Pepper, Cheese & Onion and Sweet Chilli flavours.

It means that crisp lovers in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and India will be able to enjoy their salty treats.

Engineers are starting work on Elland Bridge today, after it was badly damaged in the Boxing Day floods. They plan to dismantle it and rebuild it brick by brick.

It's good news for the many businesses in which have struggled for survival since the flooding struck. 

It's now estimated that the cost of the floods to firms in West Yorkshire is around the £60m mark.

Meltham fire station theft: Fire chief 'disappointed and downhearted'

More now on the equipment that was stolen from a fire station in Meltham. 

A hydraulic pump, as well as a cutter and spreader used to free casualties from vehicles and a thermal imaging camera were taken.

The mother of a murdered teenager has joined police in making a fresh appeal for information on the 12th anniversary of his killing.

Her son, Tyrone Clark was 16 when he was chased, beaten and stabbed to death in Beeston in Leeds. 

Four people received life sentences for his murder in 2005, but police believe about 20 people were involved in the attack. His mum, Lorraine Fraser, says she just wants closure.

There's been a fresh appeal for information about the murder of a Leeds teenager, 12 years after his death. 

Tyrone Clark was 16 when he was chased, beaten and stabbed to death in Beeston in Leeds. 

In 2005, four people received life sentences for his murder, but Det Supt Nick Wallen believes about 20 people were involved in the attack.

Work starts on repairs to Elland Bridge after floods

Work starts today to dismantle and rebuild an historic bridge in West Yorkshire that was wrecked by the Boxing Day floods.

Elland Bridge has been closed since the force of flood waters washed out its foundations.

Engineers from the Canal and River Trust will dismantle the Grade 2 listed structure brick by brick. 

The new bridge has a similar design, but will be stronger.
