And so the sun sets on another season at Elland Road, and it's been another frustrating one for Leeds fans.

Today's loss is Leeds' eighth defeat at home this season and it might have been Steve Evans' last appearance at Elland Road as manager.

You can listen to our post-match interview with the United main man here.

We'll be back on Saturday for the final game of the season - boo! - so until then, thank you very much for joining us and have a good evening.

More from Evans

"Your players at the top end of the division have a mentality and my opinion is we need to add five or six quality players to the group.

"I had a positive meeting with the president yesterday, which went well, which was a meeting I'd been waiting to have.

"We've agreed to carry on that conversation in the week. I think he recognises the good stuff but he recognises where we need to improve a well.

"The clock probably prevented me getting a decision but I always said, when the day came, it would be a two-way process and I am now close to finding out."

Evans on today's loss

"We played really well in the opening 25 minutes but we missed good chances and I think that set the scene," Steve Evans said.

"We defended so poorly for the second goal but for the last 25 minutes, it was one of those days.

"I said to the players, it's not the 25 minutes where we were totally dominant, you can't switch off defensively and still win."

Noel on Botaka's performance

It ruins my weekend when they lose at home!

I didn't think Botaka took his chance today and I thought it was an average performance.

He had the full game to do that but there just wasn't enough end product for me today from Botaka.

This isn't a great Charlton side - they're down and done but Leeds weren't good enough.

The players want to know who's in charge, Steve will want to know what he's doing next season so he can start planning, which they should already have started.

Nothing seems to be in place, nothing's organised - there's a lot of work to do.

Saying thank you to the fans

Leeds' struggles at Elland Road

Leeds 1-2 Charlton

That defeat means Leeds have lost eight at Elland Road this season.

In fact, only MK Dons and Preston have scored fewer goals at home than Leeds this season.

@WYSdaily Leeds need shooting practise.. Over 20 shots under 10 on target... Get a grip #lufc

@WYSdaily disappointing, that result and performance done SE no favours glad we don't have to watch that dross again this season

They make it difficult for themselves when they don't do certain things as well as they should.

That early chance with Luke Murphy in the first half could have been the game changer.

We've had the same problem most of the season: conceding poor goals, creating our own downfall and it isn't good enough for a Leeds United side.

FULL TIME: LEEDS 1-2 CHARLTON

So that's that for Leeds at Elland Road this season, as they lose their first game in five to already-relegated Charlton.

Despite a cracking move from Sol Bamba to pull a goal back, Leeds didn't look like the team they have in recent weeks.

Leeds win and take a quick free-kick, Charlie Taylor works his way into the penalty area and then a poor ball in is knocked back out by Charlton. Charlton are very content to sit on this for as long as they can.

That's a superb effort from Lewis Cook, leaning back and smashing the ball towards the top corner. Nick Pope has done very well to get a hand to that and turn it behind.

Liam Cooper's short pass to Charlie Taylor ends up in the path of Callum Harriott, who rushes his shot and Marco Silvestri collects with ease.

Leeds 1-2 Charlton

It's all Leeds and then Charlton break the tension by bringing on a sub. Simon Makienok replaces Igor Vetokele.

BreakingGOAL BAMBA: LEEDS 1-2 CHARLTON

That's superb from Sol Bamba, who did everything Leeds haven't done in this half and nicks one back for Leeds.

Charlie Taylor lines up a free-kick, Bamba whips around the back of everyone in the box and heads home from six yards out. A clever move from the captain to get himself into space and beat his markers.
