ZAYN teams up with M.I.A on new single

Zayn Malik and M.I.A

Hip hop artist M.I.A. has enlisted the help of Bradford's Zayn Malik, otherwise known as ZAYN, for her new track.

They've collaborated on the single Freedun.

The song is set to appear on M.I.A.'s forthcoming fifth album AIM, out next week.

I made the song a long time ago and always thought it was too mainstream sounding for me, so [the collaboration] just seems like it's perfect, if I was going to have a collaboration and have someone like Zayn, this is the perfect song, it sort of takes me out of my comfort zone but it also takes him out of his a little bit as well.

Watch: The charity that helps retired police dogs

A charity which helps retired police dogs remain with their handlers is appealing to the public to support their fundraising police dog competition tomorrow

Fireside K9 is run entirely by volunteers and helps the dogs which have dedicated their lives to working in often dangerous situations. Handlers become solely responsible for them on retirement and they can't get insurance for vets' bills.

The police dog competition is at Temple Newsam - and the money raised can mean the difference between life and death for the animals.

At the moment we are trying to piece together exactly what has happened as there are number of different reports and scenes that we are investigating.

Det Ch Insp Stuart SpencerWest Yorkshire Police

West Yorkshire Police say a black Peugeot was seen being driven on Morley Street at 18:30, with reports that a shotgun was on the back seat.

A short time later a black Peugeot collided with a brown Seat Leon on Shearbridge Road, where it appears the people in the Peugeot shot at the driver of the Leon.

The driver of the Leon ran off, but when he returned his car had been stolen and was later involved in a crash on Listerhills Road.

The Peugeot was later found burnt out on Priestman Street.

Warning over gas bill scam

Police are urging people to watch out for a scam in which fraudsters are sending out fake British Gas bills.

There is a link on it which if clicked on, installs "ransomware" on to the computer. It then locks all your files away and you can't access them unless you pay the fraudsters.

I would ask people to never open an email unless they are certain of the credentials of the sender. British Gas for example always send personal emails and will usually quote the customer's account number. Their links are always www.britishgas.co.uk.

See behind closed doors at Jake Mangle-Wurzel's home as he's told to clear his 'treasures'

As a hoarder Jake Mangle-Wurzel sees uses in the objects that most people throw away. It was therefore upsetting for the self-styled ‘King of the Eccentrics’ to be given an ultimatum to remove his stuff which has spread from his home onto public land.

Watch: 'Devastating' if crowds stay away from Rio Paralympics

Double Paralympic champion Hannah Cockroft from Halifax says it'd be devastating if athletes had to perform in front of near-empty stadiums at the Rio Games.

Ticket sales for the event, which starts on Wednesday, have been running low.

There've also been major budget cuts to venues, transport and the workforce. Hannah says compared to the London Games four years ago, there's a lack of interest out in Brazil.

Event to celebrate the memory of Jo Cox this weekend

It's hoped thousands of people will come together over the next few days in memory of West Yorkshire MP Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed to death in Birstall near Leeds in June.

Jo Cox
PA

This Saturday and Sunday are being called More in Common weekend - that phrase is borrowed from Jo Cox's maiden speech in Parliament, in which she said there's more that brings us together, than divides us.

More than 2,000 people are expected at a family fun day in Batley - there also events in Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and across the country.

Tents left at Leeds fest to be given to the homeless

After the Leeds Festival, the sea of abandoned tents and other camping equipment was quite astonishing. There were literally fields of discarded tents.

Now a Leeds charity is going to use them to help homeless people in the city.

Disabled groups fight lifting of A-board ban

Disabled people in Bradford are fighting a petition to lift a ban on advertising A-boards.

A-Boards
PA

A Bradford council meeting took place last night because businesses from parts of the city claim the ban affects their trade.

But disabled groups argue the ban should remain in place, as the boards cause problems for people who are blind or use a wheelchair.
