Goodnight!

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Thanks for joining us on the live blog tonight.

It was a much improved Leeds performance but the final ten minutes were nervy for the hosts and still offer lots for them to work on.

We'll be back on Saturday, when Leeds take on Ipswich.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your week.

GARRY MONK: We focus on what we can control

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Garry Monk

The Championship is so competitive but I tell my players to focus on what they can control and do on the pitch. My experience helps with that. Control what you can control, so they work in that way and we need to keep fighting hard. When we do that, we are competitive and know we can win games.

We have a strong mentality and two defeats in a row - maybe a little bit of doubt creeps in with young players. But the key is to get the right result, and try and build that momentum. We played with probably more pressure than we have all season and got the deserved result.

I'm just waiting on the confirmation from the club - but it's not my focus [whether he will serve a touchline ban for his push on David Wagner on derby day].

GARRY MONK

We've been very competitive in all the games we've been in - people call it a bad path but in all the games, the players have shown their mentality, and the desire and determination to put 100% in. The players will get better in time but they are able to respond. For a lot of the players, this is their first full season in professional football, or their first full season at this level.

You can see the understanding - I think it's just the composure to pick the right things when they come into the right areas, and having the confidence to shoot. All that comes in time and I'm pleased for the team after what has been a difficult week.

GARRY MONK: I am very pleased

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

I'm very pleased for the players and the response they showed. Coming on the back of two defeats brought extra pressure and an expectant atmosphere. In the first half we were creating a lot of opportunities and were on the front foot.

The players' minds probably got a little bit too protective later on because of the will to win. I kind of knew it was going to be like that. They could have had a few more but our response to two defeats was the most important thing to this group.

I think the saves were ones you would expect Green to make. We were still getting the breakaways under pressure and this young group dealt with the pressure of two defeats considerably well. I said to the fourth official that their corner came after the five minutes and even he said he didn't know why the referee hadn't blown.

Noel on Sacko

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

Sacko is not the overall player, I understand that - he'd be worth £20 million otherwise. We've seen his decision-making let him down sometimes - you don't mind players taking a shot as long as they make the keeper work.

But he does amazing things on the wings. Maybe Dallas will come back into the side this weekend to bring that physicality back.

What changed for Leeds?

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

There was a little bit more strength - some quickness and directness - about Leeds' play tonight.

Chris Wood was switched on tonight, as he has been all season, and they looked sharper as a team. The passing was more forward-thinking, we got bodies closer to Chris Wood and had chances. There were times we should have got the shot off quicker but Leeds did well tonight.

This was Wright's handball - what do you think, Leeds fans? Was the referee right to not award a penalty?

Leeds' Man of the Match was...

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

Leeds know what it's all about. We see the good and the bad with Sacko every single game but he brings so much energy down the flanks when he links up with others. He was so influential tonight.

Hernandez is a Man of the Match contender but Rob Green would get it for me. Leeds lost a bit of discipline and structure in the final ten minutes - and Bristol got in behind the lines three times in that time. It could have been worse if it wasn't for Rob Green.

What can Leeds improve on?

Leeds 2-1 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

Once you get into dangerous areas, you can get crowded out if you take too many touches - just get your shot off. Hernandez and Roofe were guilty of that at times but Leeds got the win today.

Leeds were guilty of letting them back in right at the end, though, and I think the word for that is concerning. Bristol City shouldn't have had some of the chances they did.

BreakingFULL TIME: LEEDS UNITED 2-1 BRISTOL CITY

All the reaction to come...

BreakingGOAL: LEEDS 2-1 BRISTOL CITY - DJURIC

Rob Green denies Matty Taylor to give Bristol City a corner - Monk will probably be concerned that these chances are coming at this stage. Cotterill's ball floats into the goal following a goalline scramble. Matty Taylor claims but it might have been Djuric's header at the near post that did the job - the referee gives it but it is the last kick of the game.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Bristol hoping for one final hurrah as they win a free kick for a foul from Vieira from a long way out. Aiden Flint's shot careers off a white shirt and skims the crossbar - a stunning strike from 6 yards that should have dipped in, but Leeds breathe once more.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Sacko and Vieira scamper away but Vieira goes down - Leeds knock back to Rob Green but his ball out is poor. Bristol City come again and Doukara must track O'Neil, winning the ball back but failing to get Barrow away. They did win a throw, though.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Bristol City breach halfway and find Matty Taylor on the edge of the area - but Vieira volleys the ball clear. Tomlin knocks the ball back into the box - no one deals with it, though, and Rob Green beats Taylor to the ball. It rebounds, and Taylor casts it into the side netting.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Jansson will bring the ball away and races forward, sliding the ball to Sacko. Sacko comes in off the left wing but Hegeler guides the ball away.

BreakingFIVE ADDED MINUTES

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Free kick taken quickly but Leeds cannot make anything.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

Barrow's sense of timing is superb - he has great pace when he runs with the ball, and he's just waited there for the defenders to commit before bamboozling them to win the free kick.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Bailey Wright tries to send Brownhill inside the penalty area, but Ayling knocks it out and later watches the ball out of play. Barrow does well to commit men and win a free kick.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

That is the only thing that lets Sacko down. He's done well today but his body position when he gets into key areas lets him down - he leaned back there, when he had time to think things through and be a bit more composed.

The clean sheet will be important tonight - as vital as the win.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Phillips goes for goal and it dips a couple of inches short of the crossbar. Berardi spots the keeper's kick out with ease and cushions the ball to Sacko, but the shot is rash and flies wide.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Adam Pope

BBC West Yorkshire Sport

I think Golbourne has scraped Vieira a little... But Golbourne is coming off now, making way for Gary O'Neil.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Sacko drives at the defence and knocks the ball past Brownhill, but Bristol City pack men behind the ball. Vieira draws Ayling into play as Leeds look for a third and build patiently... Phillips breaks forward with intent and Doukara finds Vieira, but Golbourne's block is a wise one. Vieira takes a foul from Golbourne, but Golbourne has lashed out...

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

Hernandez is making way for Doukara here - are we going for 4-4-2? Barrow can play number ten, and Phillips, so let's see what they do.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Cotterill drives the ball towards Rob Green from distance - and Green, of course, is there. Can't beat him for love nor money tonight.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Barrow shoots from the edge of the penalty area but it dips over the bar - touch of the Hegeler, then, but the play up until the shot was commendable, at least. Vieira steps through Bailey Wright and Bristol City will use the quick free kick to despatch Wright.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Richard Hoskin, BBC Bristol commentator

Hernandez tries spreading it to Barrow, but Giefer deals with it and knocks it to Cotterill. Tomlin cannot keep the ball in play and Lee Johnson is beginning to look increasingly frustrated with the referee's performance.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

I don't think he should try that again. I have nothing to say about that.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

O'Kane coming off here as Phillips comes on. Hegeler shoots from distance but it's audacious at best, flying into the Kop. Not good, that.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Rob Green collects that with ease - looked so confident there. Tries to get Barrow away but the pacy ball to Barrow is a bit manic and Tomlin intercepts.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Joe Bryan's looping cross forces Ayling to surrender a corner - Bryan has definitely been a handfull this half.

Leeds 2-0 Bristol

Noel Whelan

Ex-Leeds United striker

Rob Green has had a tremendous game tonight. The goalscorers will have all the headlines but we can't forget how important Green has been.
