Traffic and travel: M1 near Sheffield latest

Adam Pinder-Smith

BBC Local Live, Yorkshire

Here's the latest on the problems on the M1 in South Yorkshire:

The M1 has re-opened southbound at junction 32, but two lanes remain closed there following an earlier accident, with delays back to junction 33.

No change northbound as lane four remains shut towards the M18 interchange, with delays back to junction 31.

The M18 is open both ways but is heavy as a knock-on affect of the M1 incident.

The 10ft-high objects arrived at the site in Wakefield following a tour of Europe, Asia and the US.

The heads are inspired by traditional Chinese zodiac statues which once decorated a fountain clock at an imperial palace retreat in Beijing.

His interpretation is part of the park's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Traffic and travel: M1/M18 problems - latest update

We're just hearing what the diversion route is if you're stuck on the M1 near junction 32, where it meets the M18.

The southbound M1 remains closed and traffic is being diverted via the M18.

The northbound M1 is also affected as lane four is shut and there are big delays in both directions towards the scene.

A PCSO was sent along to talk to the man after CCTV operators spotted the man, who was wearing a hospital gown, sitting shaking on some steps and unable to return to his ward.

The officer sat with the man and checked in with local hospitals to find out where he had come from.

Police eventually managed to work out where he'd come from and officers say he was very thankful to be taken back to the hospital.

Have your say on proposed road changes in York

Nick Wilmshurst

BBC Local Live, Yorkshire

No matter where you live, the chances are that if you commute to work, you'd like your journey to be quicker.

Good news in York, then, where the powers-that-be think they've come up with a plan for a part of the city:

Roadworks proposals
City of York Council

City of York Council is asking for comments on the above new proposals which could help reduce congestion on one of York's busiest roads.

The council claims the scheme will reduce the average time taken to travel on the A19 south - and queues could be reduced by up to 50%.

You can read the full proposals here - they're quite extensive so I won't go into mega-detail here.

If you want to have your say, you have until the end of the month.

Traffic and travel: M1 remains closed near Sheffield

Adam Pinder-Smith

BBC Local Live, Yorkshire

More on those problems we've mentioned which are currently affecting the M1 near Sheffield:

The M1 remains closed southbound at junction 32 due to an accident, while the northbound carriageway in that stretch has the outside lane also shut off currently:

View more on twitter

As result, the motorway has big delays in both directions, and traffic on the M18 is also heavy towards the interchange with the M1.
