Three people have been arrested in York on suspicion of making drugs.

At 11:45 today officers swooped on a house in Grosvenor Terrace and arrested a 37-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man and a 29-year-old man.

The woman and 19-year-old man were arrested in connection with permitting the production of a Class A drug and the 29 year old man was arrested for possession of a Class B drug.

A 95-year-old former paratrooper from North Yorkshire has re-enacted a parachute jump he made 73 years ago during WWII.

John Jeffries from Richmond made a parachute jump into a Dutch battleground during the Second World War, he was shot and taken prisoner.

He made the jump in aid of charity and his fallen comrades.

These unusual terms are part of a list of 30 words uncovered by researchers in York that have fallen out of the English Language. Doctor Dominic Watt from the University of York led the study.

Man sentenced to life for 'ferocious' murder

A man has been sentenced to life behind bars for the murder of his partner earlier this year.

Mark Minott, 41 of no fixed address (pictured above), was sentenced to serve a minimum of 18 years at Leeds Crown Court earlier today.

In February Minott subjected his partner Beverley Robinson (pictured below) to a violent attack with a knife which also seriously injured her 25-year-old daughter Nateesha.

The attack took place at their home at Greenlea Court, Huddersfield, and was described by Judge Guy Kearl QC as “a persistent and ferocious attack, committed in front of two children."

Body found in search for missing man

Police looking for Daniel Pudlo have called off searches after a man's body was found at an address in Scarborough.

Officers are now conducting enquiries to locate the next of kin of the 24-year-old.

Daniel, from Scarborough, was last seen at around 19:00 last night at a bus stop on Ramshill Road.

Two people have been left with what are thought to be serious injuries after a crash in Leeds this afternoon.

It happened just after 13:20 in Cross Gates, a pedestrian and motorcyclist have both been hurt.

The A64 has been closed in both directions a s a result between Crossgates Road and the Outer Ring Road.

Hundreds of new trees to mark war dead in Sheffield

Three-hundred trees to honour war veterans are to be planted in Sheffield.

They'll go in parks across the city and the council is asking people for ideas about exactly where they should go and how they should look.

The trees will be planted and memorialised in time for the 2018 centenary which marks the end of World War One.

The 25-year-old was found at his flat on Endcliffe Vale Road in April and he's admitted a series of offences in court.

Police found heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine as well as £7,000 in cash during the operation to arrest him.

Church of England 'did not anticipate' Bishop of Sheffield row

The Church of England failed to anticipate the opposition to appointing a bishop who would not ordain women priests, a report has found.

The Right Reverend Philip North turned down the post of Bishop of Sheffield in March for what were described as personal reasons following objections to his stance.

Sir Philip Mawer's report said the nomination was "a surprise to many".

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York said his review was "detailed, thoughtful and authoritative".

Travel update: Delays of two-and-a-half hours on M62 after smash

Two lanes are closed and there is queuing traffic due to the accident on M62 Westbound between J23 A640 / A643 (Huddersfield) and J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor), congestion to J25 A644 (Brighouse).

Delays are estimated at around 90 minutes.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a cordon has been put in place.

Police say they are looking into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Irfan Wahid stabbing: Teenager detained for 10 years

A teenager has been locked up for 10 years for the manslaughter of Irfan Wahid, who was stabbed to death in February.

Irfan, 16, died from a single stab wound to the chest after a fight over a girl in Harehills Lane in Leeds on 10 February.

During the trial, the jury heard Irfan had punched the other boy to the ground - because he'd spotted him with the girl.

The 17-year-old - who can't be identified because of his age - then swung a knife which he said he carried to defend himself.

He said he hadn't meant to kill Irfan.

BreakingSevere disruption: A1 in Yorkshire after vehicle overturns

The air ambulance has been called to an accident where a vehicle has overturned on the A1 in Yorkshire.

The A1 southbound between the junction with the M62 and the A639 is affected with about 11 miles of queuing traffic.

The incident is expected to be dealt with by the emergency services between 14.14 and 14:30 with traffic expected back to normal later in the afternoon.

There no more details on the incident at the moment.

A 17-year-old youth has been detained for 10 years over the manslaughter of Irfan Wahid, who died after a street stabbing in Leeds in February.

Ex-footballer Clarke Carlisle 'missing' from Manchester

The family of former Leeds United and York City footballer Clarke Carlisle have said they are concerned for his welfare after being unable to contact him.

His wife Carrie tweeted he was last seen in Manchester city centre at 06:00 BST.

Carlisle, who has previously spoken of his mental health issues, spent six weeks in a psychiatric unit in 2015 after he was hit by a lorry.

The 37-year-old has played for Burnley, Queens Park Rangers and Leeds United.

LISTEN: 'Inappropriate site' for fracking says Ryedale campaigner

The company behind plans to frack in North Yorkshire says it still hasn't set a date to start drilling.

Third Energy says it wants to start work before the end of the year at it's site in Kirby Misperton.

It insists the process of drilling for shale gas is safe.

There have been protests outside the site in Ryedale with demonstrators trying to stop vehicles getting to the site.

Police want these men after woman threatened with 'machete and a knife'

Do you know these men? Police in Barnsley want to talk to them after an armed robbery at a woman's house.

Police have released the CCTV images after the robbery on Victoria Street in Stairfoot, in which two men used a machete and a knife to threaten the woman in her own home.

They left the house with a brown purse, cash and car key.

The robbery happened back in June, but after "extensive inquiries" officers are still trying to find out who the people in the picture above are.

Fracking has been the discussion on BBC Radio York's mid morning programme. We've heard from those who are against it and Third Energy the company behind it.

There's still a way to go before the process will start. Vehicles started moving into the Kirby Misperton site earlier this week and were faced with protestors.

There's a lot of opposition to the process. Protestors have already said they'll be outside the plant day and night.

Operations Director, John Dewar, has been defending what they're planning to do.
